Description

CAMPIONS, GALHAMPTON, NEAR CASTLE CARY, BA22 7AB

An extensively improved and extended four bedroom family home, set in an idyllic countryside location, just a short drive outside of Castle Cary.

The property has immaculate accommodation including a sitting room, dining room, sun lounge, kitchen breakfast room, boot room, utility, four bedrooms, one en-suite, and a family bathroom.

There are neatly maintained lawned gardens, ample parking and a garage.

Accommodation
Campions is located on a quiet lane, between Galhampton and the outer edges of Castle Cary. The elevated position takes in commanding views towards Cadbury Castle. The property has been greatly improved by the current owners, including a large extension to the rear, new bathroom suites and an impressive new kitchen.

From the parking area, the front door enters a large sun lounge at the front of the property which is light and airy, taking in the southerly aspect of the gardens in front. This then leads into the central hallway where there is a staircase rising to the first floor, and doors leading into the kitchen and dining rooms.

The dining room adjoins in a semi-open plan style to the sitting room which is greatly for family living and socialising. The sitting room has French doors out to the garden, a triple aspect, and a wood burning stove in the heart of the room.

The kitchen has been totally transformed with high quality, sleek units providing excellent storage space, with quartz worktops and a central island with breakfast bar adding to the appeal. Within the units there are integral appliances including a induction hob with extractor above, double oven with microwave combination function, and a fridge freezer. Completing the stylish finish, there is wood effect flooring, and LED spotlights above. Adjoining the kitchen, there is a utility room and a boot room with a back door and cloakroom.

On the first floor, there are three double bedrooms, and a single room. The master bedroom has a beautifully finished en-suite shower room, and a Juliet balcony taking in the westerly views over the adjoining field. All three of the further bedrooms have built-in wardrobes. Serving these bedrooms, there is a family bathroom which is equally well-appointed with a bath, separate shower, basin, w/c, and stylish tiling. Off the landing there is a loft hatch, and a linen cupboard.

Outside
A driveway leads off the quiet countryside lane, up to a spacious parking area in front of the house and garage. The garage has an up and over door, and extends deeply at the rear to provide potential workshop space.

Flanking the driveway, there is a lovely main lawn which gently rolls away from the house giving way to the views beyond. Behind the house there is another lawned area, and a great spot to grow vegetables. The gardens are totally surrounded by mixed hedgerows and enjoy superb privacy.

About the area
The semi-rural village of Galhampton offers a thriving and friendly community, an active village hall, a parish church and a popular pub. There is a wide network of footpaths on the doorstep, as well as horse riding and other outdoor pursuits.

The vibrant market towns of Castle Cary and Bruton are nearby.

Castle Cary is described by Sir Nikolaus Pevsner, the eminent architectural historian, as Somerset's prettiest town, set in beautiful unspoilt countryside. The town is characterised by period buildings constructed of the distinctive honey coloured stone for which the area is well known. It remains a delightful small market town with a number of traditional shops and boutiques within the Conservation Area in which a policy of strict planning control operates to prevent inappropriate development.

Fashionable Bruton is also characterised by its historic buildings, as well as being home to the world-renowned Hauser and Wirth Gallery.

Sherborne, Wells, Shaftesbury, Glastonbury, Street, Frome, Wincanton and Yeovil are all close by and Salisbury, Taunton, Bath and Bristol are within easy driving distance.

Two miles away “The Newt in Somerset” is home to beautiful countryside walks set in the grounds of a Georgian country estate. Within the estate are a Hotel & Spa, Farm shop, restaurants and house & garden shop. Residents of Galhampton benefit from local residents' membership rates.

On the outskirts of Castle Cary is the railway station with its direct line to Paddington and the A303 road link is a few miles south. There are excellent state schools in the area - Ansford Academy boasts strong exam grades and independent schools include the Sherborne and Bruton schools, Millfield, Wells Cathedral, Hazelgrove, and Port Regis.
