Gwernaffield, on the outskirts of Mold has always been a popular destination among discerning home buyers and with good reason. Within a few minutes' drive of the town centre it combines the attractions of village life and the countryside while avoiding many of the drawbacks and the result is a highly desirable place to live. Needless to say, places as attractive as this one frequently carry a premium in the price demanded for property and it is rare than somewhere as affordable as this becomes available. This fact alone makes the home worthy of attention and this is before we even begin to list its other advantages.
The Links is a circular cul-de-sac off the main road through the village and if that fails to make sense, think of it as a loop with a single link to the main road. Number 29 is found on the far side of the loop surrounded by bungalows of a similar appearance and offering far reaching views down across Mold gold course towards Hope Mountain in the distance. Finding such peace in a south facing garden so close to the convenience of the town centre is what makes this home such an appealing find.
A neatly kept front garden is flanked by the driveway where two parallel concrete strips allow vehicles past the home to the detached garage at the rear. Midway along the side elevation the white UPVC 'front' door opens into a small inner lobby, from where a second inner door allows us to pass into the main hall.
This has a high quality light wood laminate floor which continues into the first of the bedrooms, situated immediately to our right. Overlooking the front lawn this is a well proportioned double bedroom though if it has a fault, the floor space available for free standing furniture such as wardrobes is a little limited. But then you have been promising yourself to take some of those clothes to Oxfam far ages...
Adjacent to here and also overlooking the front garden we come to the lounge, a lovely room that feels simultaneously welcoming and cosy. It is kept well illuminated with natural light from the picture window with its attractive lead work, while the room's focal point is provided by the wooden fire surround and the electric living flame effect fire it contains. I had often pooh poohed these imitation fires but technology has moved on apace and they are currently very impressive, giving a highly realistic flickering light which makes you feel warmer whatever the actual temperature.
Moving towards the rear of the home we find the main bedroom which is a similar size to the lounge, making it seriously large. Large enough to accommodate a formal dressing table, a double length chest of drawers, occasional table and two free standing wardrobes so unless you are expecting Imelda Marcos to visit, storing your clothes should not present a problem. Even with all these in place along with the twin bedside cabinets and the double bed, there is still more than enough room to move about freely which gives you some idea of the space available. Light in here is supplied courtesy of the large patio doors which open into one side of the large conservatory at the rear of the home.
Crossing to the opposite side of the hallway we come to the bathroom or being pedantic, the shower room. This has been fitted out to a high standard with a heated towel rail running off the central heating and features an integrated hand basin and lavatory set into a storage unit stretching the full width of the room and a corner mounted glass shower cubicle to finish off.
Beside here lies the ceramic floored kitchen where there are fitted units in a deep 'U' formation with matching high level cupboards above, meaning that lack of storage space is never going to be an issue. Everything you would expect to find in the way of equipment is present and correct though I am always a bit cagey about describing kitchens because at the time of writing I never know which white goods are destined to be included in the sale so it is safest to simply say that there is space for them.
The ceramic floor continues from here into the rear facing conservatory which takes full advantage of the home's south facing aspect. This large space currently serves as a formal dining room; somewhere posh hotels would call an orangery but however it is named, it remains a very pleasant place to eat.
Outside the garden space is completely laid to paving except for a large raised bed to one side providing colour and variation but it is the view over the back wall that really impresses with its far reaching vista over the golf links, hence the address, and down the hill towards Mold, where Hope Mountain can be seen in the distance. There is an outside tap for convenience and a door giving access to the detached garage which also houses the oil fired central heating boiler but for anyone favouring gas for heating or cooking, I fear their choice is limited as there is no mains gas in the village. When weighed up against the home's good points however, this becomes unimportant.

Photos are taken with a WIDE ANGLE CAMERA so PLEASE LOOK at the 3D & 2D floor plans for approximate room sizes as we don't want you turning up at the home and being disappointed, courtesy of planstosell.co.uk:
All in all this home is a golden opportunity to move out to the countryside and live in comfort, and for a surprisingly affordable outlay. Furthermore, while suitable for a variety of ages and tastes its convenient and easily managed layout lends itself to someone more elderly or perhaps of limited mobility so as you see, it really can be all things to all men. (Or women, obviously...) It is in excellent condition, well positioned, cosy and well equipped, providing just the sort of haven against the cares of the world that we all need. Does that about cover it? Yes I thought so too.
