Menaggio is one of the most charming villages along the shores of lake Como. It is situated in the heart of Lake Como, on its western shore, at the beginning of a valley that connects Menaggio with lake Lugano. Its central position makes it a lively town. Already in the first half of the 18th century it was discovered by the first tourists, enchanted by the beauty of the landscape and the mild climate, and the grand hotels like Grand Hotel Victoria and the luxury villas like Villa Mylius Vigoni and Villa Garovaglio Ricci were built. It is a centre that has kept its nature of village, offering a wide range of facilities and activities to its residents and guests. The town Menaggio consists in a centre and three hamlets Loveno, Nobiallo and Croce and has a total of about 3200 inhabitants. Menaggio is of ancient origins and in its centre and in its hamlets there are many interesting monuments which recall Menaggio's importance throughout the ages. The heart of the "old" town is gathered around Piazza Garibaldi close to Menaggio's harbour. In Via Calvi among fashionable shops you can see, on the facade of the church of S. Marta, the memorial plaque of Minicio Exorato, a notable of the Roman empire. Narrow cobble stoned alleys lead up to the area called castello. The castle, of which remain impressive perimetric walls was destroyed in 1523. Thanks to its central position, its main car and passenger ferry links and bus connections, Menaggio is an ideal starting point for all kinds of excursions: by boat you can visit the beautiful villas with their lovely gardens, by bus or car you can discover the valleys with their rural settlements and small Romanesque churches and by foot or mountain bike you explore the trails of the Val Sanagra Park, an extended protected area near Menaggio. The sportsmen can try their climbing skill on the Via Ferrata to the top of Monte Grona or on the climbing face between Menaggio and the hamlet Nobiallo. Also take a look at the special itineraries for families. Menaggio boasts an awesome 18 hole golf course founded in 1906, a sports center and a big lido with a large beach, a 25 m long swimming pool, a pool for children, restaurant and bar. The town also has a free public beach and other sport facilities. Children (and not only) can enjoy the splendid crazy golf on the lakeside promenade and the playground in the centre of the town. The restaurants in the centre of town and in the hamlets all have traditional dishes on their menus either with lake specialities, with its preference for fish, or the cuisine of the valleys, with polenta, game, mushrooms and local cheeses. Every second and fourth Friday morning there is a small market in town and in the centre of Menaggio there are fashionable shops next to traditional grocery stores. During the evenings musical events in the piazza , art exhibitions and small hand-craft markets often animate the town and there are numerous cafés for a relaxing moment.
The splendid lake side promenade, offers an unique view of the central lake area and is ideal for an evening stroll enjoying a "gelato" of course home made at one of the gelaterie in town. During the winter you can climb the surrounding slopes either with skies, snowsnoes or visit the closeby skiresorts. Due to the micro climate formed by the lake, during the winter you can find surprisingly pleasant days ideal for a walk on the Antica Strada Regina, ancient road built by the romans along the lake.
DMM real estate - A family business - 40 years of experience in real estate.
My name is Deborah Muzzu Martis, I was born in Como and I spent most of my life in Menaggio, on Lake Como, where I also live today. My father Giuseppe was the first professional real estate agent of the area. 15 years ago, motivated by the passion in this field, I decided to take advantage of his experience and started to follow his steps and became a certified real estate agent as well. I think it is important to establish a good relationship with my clients, to better understand their needs and what kind of property they are looking for. As I grew up in this area, I know my territory well, the climate, the facilities and I can be of great help in proposing the right property.
I believe my task is to make a selection among the properties offered and to present what matches better the client's requirements and what I think is valuable and of quality.
I offer an "all-round service": I am able to suggest the most competent and reliable people for renovating, from the construction company to the handy man and housekeeping.
