Property description

Redding is a superb development opportunity in a unique rural position within the grounds of Rowallan Castle.

It is about 3 miles from Kilmaurs and 19 miles from Glasgow, easily accessible in a 20 minute drive via the M77. Kilmaurs provides local services and a railway station with a half hourly service to Glasgow. Glasgow and Prestwick Airports are 21 miles and 15 miles respectively.

Rowallan Castle is a fabulous 600 acre country estate with two castles, one dating from the 13th Century and the other designed by Robert Lorimer in the 19th Century. It is now the home of Rowallan Castle Golf Club which boasts a superb championship course designed by Colin Montgomerie.

Facing south in an elevated position, Redding has vistas across the golf course to the Castle and policies and also across open countryside to the Firth of Clyde and Isle of Arran.

A former Farm Steading, some striking stone gables and elevations now remain at Redding. Planning permission was granted in June 2008 for 6 houses converted from the stone buildings. East Ayrshire Council have now indicated that they would be sympathetic to new build homes being erected on the site. The site could also be utilised for a spectacular single house.

There is a separate access to Redding from the public road which will be improved to a base coat standard. The site has a 3 phase electricity supply, and the nearby line of electricity pylons is shortly to be removed by Scottish Power.

Redding is one of the finest countryside sites in Ayrshire for luxury housing because of its position at Rowallan, and proximity to Glasgow.

A copy of the planning consent and plans (Planning Application No. 13/0398/AMCPP) are available on request from the Selling Agents.
