What is Shared Ownership?
Shared ownership is another way to buy your own home. You buy a percentage, and pay rent on the rest. The housing association owns part of it but you are living there, you decorate it, and you decide when to sell.
Buying a percentage means a smaller deposit and smaller mortgage. Its a sooner first step on the ladder for lots of people. You can buy more shares of this home to own it 100%.
Shared ownership homes are sold on a 125 year lease. You can increase your ownership to 100% at any time and the freehold will be transferred to you.
Anyone who does not currently own or part own a property and has a household income of less than £80,000 per year can apply.

To apply for shared ownership or register your interest please visit the Help to Buy Midlands & London website and complete an application form.
