Property description

Tenure: Freehold

If hearing "Honeysuckle Cottage" conjures up visions of cosy evenings curled up in front of an Inglenook fireplace surrounded by olde worlde charm, you are absolutely right. Located in the desirable village of Waltham on the Wolds, Honeysuckle Cottage is settled in the quiet idyll of rural bliss. As well as the picturesque views, beautiful walks and peaceful village life, Waltham is perfectly situated for transport links, making it an enviable place to call home.

Lets tell you more...

At the end of Church Lane, you will stumble upon Honeysuckle Cottage, a quaint country home bursting with original character and quirky features here and there. The property offers three bedrooms, a snug, spacious dining room, garden and large driveway. From exposed beams to fireplaces, this enchanting three-bedroom cottage will put a spell on you as soon as you step through the door.

You can enjoy the rustic feel of country living without foregoing modern comforts in this cosy period home, which was lovingly renovated by its previous owners. After being derelict for several years, this period cottage was brought back to life more than 30 years ago and has since become a charming, well-loved home.

As soon as you walk through the timber gate on to the large gravel driveway, you'll be struck by the cosiness radiating from this home. Inside the inviting interiors of this historic property, you are greeted by charming original features and hidden cubbyholes. The living room is cosy and snug, with low-supporting beams and an Inglenook fireplace. Who could think of a more idyllic place to relax by the fire after a brisk winter walk.

The dining room enjoys an abundance of natural light, which would be perfect for entertaining guests or creating a remote working environment. The kitchen, which may need some modernisation, is bright and airy, overlooking the beautiful garden. Expect to find more rustic charm upstairs, where there is a bathroom, two double bedrooms and a single bedroom.

A glorious garden is essential for country living and Honeysuckle Cottage does not disappoint. You will be in awe of the way the garden comes to life in the spring, bursting with beautiful colours, buzzing bees and birdlife. As the name suggests, climbing honeysuckle adorns the cottage's exterior walls, blooming beautiful flowers in the spring and enhancing this cottage's rural feel.

Waltham on the Wolds is a quintessentially English village brimming with historic character and friendly locals. As well as scenic countryside walks on your doorstep, enjoy the many amenities available, including the Deli and the Royal Horsehoes, a cosy country inn that dates back to the 15th century - expect a warm welcome when you step inside this thatched-roof pub. The village hall holds events and clubs all year round, where you could get to know your friendly Waltham neighbours.

While this property enjoys rural seclusion away from the hustle and bustle, it offers convenient commuter and travel links. Melton Mowbray can be reached in around 10 minutes and there are also strong transport links to Nottingham and Leicester.

An internal viewing of this delightful old cottage is highly recommended in order to fully appreciate the property on offer.

What the current owner says

Honeysuckle Cottage offers everything you could ask for from a cosy country home - a beautiful rural setting, charming features and hidden quirks. It is a much-loved home in the heart of a charming village, where you will always feel safe and welcome in the community.

My favorite spaces are - the living room as it's tucked away and the snug of the house, with features such as an exposed brick fireplace, low beams and a curtain across the door. It's the perfect place to snuggle up by the fire with a cup of tea. The dining room is a lovely bright and airy room, which is ideal for all sorts of different uses. This room was actually used to run a china repair business and became renowned within the local counties. It would make a great space for remote working, sat by the bright window. The double garage offers ample space and would be a great a space to also work from.

This property is perfectly suited for a retired or professional couple, with enough space for visitors to come and stay. The cottage is incredibly warm in the winter and every room feels cosy and enclosed without being too small. There are lots of little quirks and cubbyholes dotted around, each with a story to tell! During a thunderstorm, we would go and hide in the cupboard under the stairs.

The garden is a special place, full of shrubs, flowers and birdlife. Snowdrops and honeysuckles have grown around this cottage for decades, blossoming beautiful flowers in the spring. Honeysuckle Cottage carries its charm throughout the seasons - bursting with colour and wildlife through the summer months and becoming a cosy, warm haven in the winter.

We love Christmas in the cottage and the snug looks lovely with a Christmas tree in the corner. The village is a lovely place to be at that time of year. People love getting together at the pub and enjoying the festive niceties.

Waltham on the Wolds is a peaceful yet friendly village with lots to do, from country walks to village hall events. It's so reassuring to know you're surrounded by trusted neighbours who would be there to have a chat or give you a helping hand if needed.

Honeysuckle Cottage holds so many happy memories and we hope the new owners love it as much as we have.
