What do you love most about your home?
What brought us here was the location, right by Wandsworth Common. Whichever way you walk it is usually across part of the Common whether it is down to Northcote Road, across to St John's Hill or over to Bellvue Road (Chez Bruce!!). We had looked at Victorian/Edwardian terraced houses and they all fell down on number of bathrooms and the ability to install a downstairs cloakroom and/or parking. Here we have three bathrooms plus a downstairs cloakroom and our own privately owned parking space right outside the front door, so convenient for offloading shopping and/or small children. There is also parking outside on the road which is ideal for deliveries/workmen.
Stott Close is also a cul-de-sac which, in our long experience of moving around the country, is always a good place to be in terms of both home security and child security. Plus, given the number of bedrooms, we have been able to have a study/office each - ideal for working from home.
Why are you moving?
We originally moved here to be near to our daughter to help with child care. Our oldest grandson is now off to university and her need is not quite the same as previously. My husband has an interest in old cars and has a 1934 Morris which we have in our garage here - but he would dearly love another vintage car. So additional garage space has become important plus a workshop for tinkering about with engines etc.
I would like the space for a grand piano again, such as I always had when we lived in the country. So we are moving for additional space for quite specific things. Plus I used to keep sheep and would quite like to have some again.
What do you love about the area?
We love the community here and will be sad to lose it. Under lockdown a Whats App group was established which works incredibly well as an information board etc. We also love the convenience of travel into London, it is a quick 10-15 minute walk down to Clapham Junction from where you can be at Waterloo or Victoria in ten minutes or so, Gatwick Airport in half an hour. Plus there is the Skylark Cafe minutes away on the Common and right next door various fitness activities from All Star Tennis with tennis for all ages and abilities to outdoor fitness training.
It's also a great space for activity based children's parties.
