Property description

Tenure: Freehold

A substantial Grade II listed property with five double bedrooms in the heart of the market square at Higham Ferrers

Description

This delightful Grade II listed property, dating originally from the 17th century, is full of character, from its splendid limestone elevations outside, to its imposing wooden front door, to the many wonderful original details found inside. The property is currently used as a main house with single bedroom annex.

There is a main drawing room to the front of the ground floor, as well as three further sitting rooms, one of which is found on the first floor and is currently used as a self contained annex. The lower ground floor has an office, while the first floor study could be used as an additional bedroom. The lovely light and spacious kitchen is fitted with modern units and integrated appliances and incorporates a dining area.

There are five double bedrooms upstairs, one of which is en suite, in addition to the sitting room and study and a family bathroom.

Around the rear courtyard are several further living spaces, including a second kitchen and utility, as well as the studio, which has a kitchenette and a shower room, and could be used as another annexe.

Outside
The property opens to the front onto the lovely market square in the centre of the town, while double doors open onto the garage and lead to the courtyard area at the rear of the house. The courtyard is paved and provides seating areas, which are ideal for al fresco dining. A gateway to the side of the courtyard leads to the gardens, veranda and an area of lawn. Beyond the lawn there is a gravel driveway, which is accessed via the lane leading to the church.
