A wonderful detached family home on the outskirts of a bustling market town

Description

Penshurst Road is a sought after residential road located on the outskirts of the historic market town of Newton Abbot which is conveniently located between the Dartmoor National Park and the bays and beaches of the South Devon coast.
The town offers a wide range of everyday amenities including numerous supermarkets as well as a bustling shopping centre with a range of shops, restaurants, weekly markets, cafes and pubs.
Transport links are also excellent and include a mainline railway station (direct service to London Paddington commuter train 2.5hrs) and convenient road links via the A380 dual carriageway linking to the M5 at Exeter.
Shaldon and Teignmouth are both 6 miles away and are known for their delightful beaches and the Teign Estuary offers moorings for yachts and safe dinghy sailing and boating. In the immediate vicinity of the property there are a number of footpaths and trails to Decoy Country Park and Bakers Park.
Seyah is a wonderful 1920's family home which has been in the same ownership for over 50 years. Reflecting the period in which it was built, the property features spacious, light rooms with high ceilings and the potential to update for more modern family living. The accommodation is arranged over three floors with the ground floor entrance hall providing a focal point for access to the reception rooms. The dual aspect living room is a wonderfully light room with open fire place, access to the garden and lovely views across the countryside.
Internal folding doors lead to the dining room which also has a lovely aspect over the garden. The breakfast room also leads off the entrance hall and is a lovely sociable room with convenient built in storage, a large bay window with window seat as well as a large hatch into the kitchen. The kitchen itself, with traditional AGA and space for dishwasher and fridge, benefits from a traditional pantry as well as a large porch area. There is also a study on the ground floor with access to the garden. Adjacent to the rear porch is the utility room which provides space for a washing machine / tumble drier and deep freeze.
Stairs rise from the entrance hall to a split landing with cloakroom. The first floor offers three double bedrooms including the dual aspect principal bedroom with dressing room and built in storage and beautiful views over the garden and countryside beyond. There is also a family bathroom on this floor, under stairs storage and large under eaves storage. The second floor is home to the fourth double bedroom, again benefitting from wonderful views and under eaves storage.

Outside the property there is a large driveway with ample parking, a garage and a car port.
The south facing garden is largely laid to lawn with well-established shrubs and trees and a lovely terrace. There is also a workshop/store, a log store and an old Anderson shelter.

Please note that there is an overage clause on the garden. Please speak to Savills for further information.
