Property description
The spacious accommodation covers three floors, with a lovely sitting room with open fire place, separate dining room, and large sun-room with doors on to the south facing garden. The kitchen has an Aga, utility room and door to the side access garage.
There are a total of 5 double bedrooms, with a dressing room, bathroom and cloakroom, and the top floor has a balcony with lovely sea views.
The south facing corner plot garden has a garden gate giving access to a twitten which leads directly to the beach without the need to use a road.
A path leads to the side of the house where a detached garage can be found. The path continues through a door to the front of the property where the generous front gardens provide parking for several cars or dinghies.
The Aldwick Bay Estate was originally conceived in the 1920/30s in the heyday of the English Riviera. Notable visitors in the past have included Charlie Chaplin, Douglas Fairbanks and Jack Hawkins. Royalty also visited the area with Earl Spencer owning property on the estate, visitors to which included the Queen Mother and Princess Margaret. Today the estate remains an exceptional place to live in a discreet private setting. Locally a parade of shops cater for some everyday needs with further facilities available in Aldwick itself and the cathedral city of Chichester some 7 miles to the north. Sailing is perhaps the premier pastime of the area, with a number of sailing clubs located along the south coast. The beaches at Wittering, Aldwick and Climping provide opportunities for bathing and windsurfing.
There are numerous golf courses and the rich countryside of the South Downs provides many opportunities for horse riding, mountain biking and walking. Glorious Goodwood is perhaps best known for horse racing but is becoming increasingly popular for its' annual Festival of Speed and the Revival of its' historic motor circuit. Communications are good with the A27 providing convenient vehicle access to various towns and cities along the south coast, including Portsmouth, Chichester, Worthing and Brighton. Stations at both Bognor Regis and Chichester provide a regular service to Gatwick and London Victoria.
