Description

Yopa are proud to introduce a stunning two bedroom stone built cottage with extensive grounds in the village of Powburn to the market.

In the foothills of Northumberland’s Cheviot Hills, nestled in the Breamish Valley lies the unspoilt Powburn village, with its vibrant and friendly community it is stunning and sought after location. The village itself benefits from an excellent general store as well as a village hall and a post office. Despite its rural charm, it has excellent transport links with regular buses running to and from Alnwick, Kelso and Newcastle, making this an ideal spot for those wishing to escape to the country whilst still having good access to those larger towns and cities.

The property benefits from extensive driveway parking and a wooden garage, original wooden sash windows with secondary glazing and an area to the rear of the house which could be developed with the correct planning permission.

You enter the property via the front door and are welcomed into a light external porch with uPVC windows. From here you go through a glass panelled door into the main hallway.

The hallway itself is pretty and symmetrical with a reception room leading off from either side of a central staircase.

The lounge is a bright and sunny room with two large sash windows which overlook the beautiful front garden. There is also an open fire with a gorgeous cast iron insert, a slate hearth and a wood surround, with two built-in cupboards to one side. The room has been beautifully decorated and is full of charm and character.

From the lounge, you can access a rear hallway where there is a downstairs bathroom. The bathroom has been beautifully tiled and contains a bath with electric shower over, a half pedestal wash hand basin and a closed coupled WC. This room has a high end designer feel to it with spotlights in the ceiling and a heated towel rail.

On the other side of this hallway is a door which takes you into a country cottage style kitchen. There are a good number of wall and base units with lovely twisted pewter handles. In addition to this there is space and plumbing for a washing machine, a free standing cooker as well as a tumble dryer and a fridge-freezer. This room has two windows to the rear which overlooks the wonderful oasis of a back garden and a door that opens into the rear porch.

You can access the second reception room via the kitchen, as the ground floor reception rooms are laid out in a circular loop making it an ideal entertaining space. This room is currently used as a dining room/office and benefits from a large sash window that provides you with further beautiful views. There is a second feature inglenook fireplace in situ and although there is not a working fire here presently, a wood burner could easily be fitted.

The stairs to the first floor take you to a split landing.

The master bedroom is a stunning double with amazing views from the two large sash windows and a pretty semi shaped ceiling. There are built-in wardrobes on either side of the bed as well as original storage cupboards on the other wall and loft access overhead.

The second bedroom is another spacious double with three windows which give uninterrupted views out across open countryside, and also has original built-in cupboards and an electric heater.

Home office, hobby room this is another useful room with lovely views to the rear of the home.

The family bathroom has a high gloss unit with a vanity sink on top and a concealed cistern WC with push button. There is also a quadrant shower cubicle with an electric shower and a chrome heated towel rail, as well as eaves storage.

The rear garden contains a good sized stone built barn with a slate roof as well as two additional storage sheds. The garden itself is a wonderful oasis of planted beds and winding paths with a pond at the bottom of the garden, whilst there is also a lawn with mature borders and a path that leads around the property.
