Full description

Few homes stand alone in their quality and design yet still offer the comfort and space for both modern family living and entertaining. The Caimens is one of these rare finds with beautiful accommodation that combines five bedrooms and a lagoon-style indoor swimming pool with open plan living. Outside there is a double garage with enclosed courtyard for further parking and a garden designed on several levels to incorporate a stunning water feature.

The Story
Just like a luxury holiday in the Cayman Islands, The Caimens offers five-star accommodation complete with an indoor, lagoon swimming pool, five-tier gardens with a breathtaking water feature and, inside, balmy temperatures all year round.
When I come home from work I like to walk through the pool area because it instantly relaxes me and makes me feel like I am on holiday, said the owner.
The Caimens was built three years ago and named after the Caribbean island by the developer.
The stylish and elegant five-bedroom house has been built to a high specification and the contemporary interior design is simply spectacular.
The house is amazing, it is in a fantastic location close to woods and yet just five minutes away from the city centre, he said.

The owners bought the house when it had just been built, but have put their own stamp on it by decorating throughout and choosing furnishings.
It is an extremely modern and contemporary-style home, which suited our family needs and requirements, he said.
Built on three levels, the impressive pool facility is on the ground floor and instantly creates a luxurious ambience. As well as the swimming pool, there is a sauna and a large seating area complete with comfortable sofas, bringing a relaxed feel.
The pool area has a sort of jungle theme to it and just being in that space makes you feel good, he said

A lift accesses all three floors and the main living area is on the first floor.
Materials including glass, marble and brick create the state-of-the-art, open plan living area, which is crowned by an awe-inspiring water feature.
From a glass gallery, there is a wall of water cascading down from the top floor to the swimming pool and next to it is a quiet, seating area where the owners like to play chess or simply listen to the soft sound of water falling.
Personally, my favourite area of the house is the open plan living space. It all flows so well and I like to sit by the water feature as it is so relaxing, he said.
The kitchen area features granite work surfaces, Bosch appliances and a huge island and breakfast bar, which makes the perfect hub for guests at parties.

Plush leather sofas and a huge wall-mounted TV screen feature in the living area, which is divided from the dining section by a brick-built fireplace with a rectangular opening featuring a living flame.
Apart from the bedrooms, the whole house is wired for sound and there are integrated TVs all over the house, he said. There is a central hub where you can control all the technical wizardry - and there is something like 500 lights in the house.
Also on the first floor are two bedrooms, one that could be used as a study and the second with an en-suite bathroom and access to the utility room beneath.
It is more or less a self-contained area, which could be used for a teenager or elderly relative. At the moment my son likes to use it when he his home from university, said the owner.

The contemporary styling flows up to the second floor, where there are three further bedrooms, including the master suite, which has its own fireplace and dressing room.
Really, this house is the sort of place you would expect to find a football star living in, he said. It has a character of its own and ultimately it is a fun and relaxing place to be in, which is why we like it so much.
The whole space lends itself to entertaining - and the owners have done a fair amount of partying since moving in.
I think one of the best events we have had here was my daughter's 16th birthday party. We probably had about 80 of her friends and their parents here, but it didn't feel like there were that many people inside, he said.

Ground Floor

The Caimens is hidden behind a high wall with large electric timber gates that open to an enclosed parking courtyard at the front of the house. Designed by an architect, the external elevations, which are mainly clad with cedar wood with an irregular pitched and tiled roof, belie the extent of the space inside. Therefore it is quite a breathtaking introduction when you make your way through the wide wooden door to find a beautiful reception room adjoining the indoor lagoon-style pool. Carefully designed lighting illuminates the rock-effect walls with an abundance of greenery draping from the ceiling, while the comfortable seating area is separated by pillars. A raised level surrounds the pool with coloured lights and there is a central island with a glass table and stools, ideal for the most sumptuous of parties. On a practical level the plant room houses the gas central heating boiler, water cylinder, pumps and pool equipment. There is also a shower room along with a sauna.

First Floor

A lift takes you to the first floor, although there are also internal and external steps to the varying levels of the house. Most of this floor is open plan offering an opulent amount of space. The dining room is separated by a duel sided fireplace, travertine floor and a folding concertina glass wall, while the seating area is positioned beside the waterfall which plunges to the pool below. A sunken level makes the perfect breakfast room, with additional space for comfortable chairs to watch television and an easy flow into the stunning kitchen. Here you find a central island that incorporates a breakfast bar, induction hob with stainless steel extractor hood and a stainless steel circular sink set into a granite work surface. There is a plethora of base and wall cabinets, topped by further granite work surfaces, a sink unit and integral appliances that include 4 Bosch ovens. Double doors open to one of the decked areas by the water feature which provides a lovely outlook and an idyllic space for alfresco dining. The fifth bedroom/study can be accessed from the kitchen or drawing room and incorporates built-in cupboards and double doors to the balcony overlooking the front of the house.

On a mezzanine level leading from the first floor is one of the double bedroom suites. Ideal for guests, this is a large light-filled room with a sitting area at one end and floor to ceiling windows that offer views to the front of the house. There is also a luxurious en-suite with a rock and glass pedestal table, enclosed shower, washbasin set into a vanitory unity and a low level wc. Stairs lead to the utility room which is fitted with a large range of storage cupboards, ideal for shoes and coats, along with a range of kitchen cupboards, a stainless steel sink and plumbing for a washing machine and tumble dryer.

Second Floor

The master bedroom is large and luxurious with a range of built-in cupboards, a padded leather wall, dressing room and an en-suite bathroom incorporating a separate shower, bath, toilet and washbasin set into a vanitory unit. There is a further guest suite with bathroom and a double bedroom with an en-suite shower room.

Setting the Scene
Set back from the tree-lined road in one of Nottinghams most sought after areas, The Caimens is situated in about a half-acre plot (STMS) and accessed via electronic gates which open to the front of the house where there is large brick-paved parking area and a double garage. Mapperley itself is on the edge of Nottingham and very close to open countryside and woodland. The road leading up to the house is very quiet and private, said the owner.
Shielded by a large variety of trees, the area at the back of the house is built over five levels of decking and incorporates a stone water fall feature.
When the trees are in blossom it looks fantastic, he said. It's completely private at the back and the way the area has been designed means there is virtually no garden maintenance required.
He added: We have had a lot of summer parties in the garden.

Within Easy Reach
Sefton Drive is in Mapperley Park which is just to the north of the city centre and is a quiet area with tree-lined roads and individual properties. Mapperley covers a large area, but is bounded by Sherwood Forest, which is a 450-acre country park that attracts some 400,000 visitors every year.
The high school for both boys and girls is within walking distance and this is a popular area for doctors working at the Queens Medical Centre. Trent College school bus picks up from the Mansfield Road, which is a ten minute walk from the house. Hollygirt is another popular school for this area and there are a number of nurseries and primary schools.
There is a Sainsbury's at the top of the park and a range of other supermarkets and shops both at Mapperley Top and Sherwood, as well as doctors' and dentist surgeries.
A regular bus service into the city runs every few minutes.
The centre of the city of Nottingham is just a five-minute drive away from the house and the railway station takes about 10 minutes to reach.
The M1 motorway is about a 20-minute drive away and the nearest airport is East Midlands, which takes about 45 minutes to reach.
Nottingham itself is a vibrant university city offering a wide range of attractions including its own castle. Wollaton Hall and Park is about two miles from the city centre. There is also a golf course nearby and several parks.

From Nottingham city centre proceed north on the A60 Mansfield Road. After passing a crematorium and going straight over a roundabout, take the fourth turning on the right into Mapperley Hall Drive. Take the second turning left into Sefton Drive where The Caimens be found on the right hand side.
