Arrochar is situated within the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park, Scotland's first National Park, and is a popular and attractive village which lies on the shores of Loch Long, just a few miles west of Loch Lomond. The range of mountains surrounding Arrochar are known as the Arrochar Alps and include four Munros and six Corbetts, the best known of which is The Cobbler.
The village of Arrochar offers a range of shops for everyday needs, a petrol station, award wining village inn and a primary school. There is an early morning commuter rail service from Tarbet and Arrochar station to the centre of Glasgow. Private schooling is available at Lomond School in Helensburgh or at the many Glasgow schools.
Sporting activities in the area abound, including windsurfing, sailing, hill walking and climbing. The Loch Lomond Golf Club (13 miles) boasts an international membership and is host to the annual Scottish Open Championship.
Invereoch House is a substantial later 19th century Victorian villa which looks out over its own private and level front garden to Loch Long.
Its exterior is typically Victorian with symmetrical bay windows and hand carved soffits which represent craftsmanship from a bygone era. The accommodation is over two levels and is presented in good order. It retains some fantastic period features, most notably some remarkable ceiling plasterwork.
The entrance porch opens to the main reception hallway which leads to the drawing room, dining room, sitting room, cloakroom and kitchen. The hallway has a striking black and white chequered floor and an elegant stair to the first floor, lit by a window with beautiful etched and stained glass.
The drawing room is beautiful, with a bay window overlooking Loch Long, a substantial wood burning stove and elaborate plasterwork. The dining room has a formal feel and also enjoys open views from a bay window. The kitchen offers an altogether more contemporary feel with a mix of free standing and fitted units. A utility room off the kitchen and a WC off the cloakroom complete the accommodation on the ground floor.
Upstairs are five bedrooms and a family bathroom. The three front bedrooms enjoy wonderful views over Loch Long.
The extensive grounds are predominantly lawned. The front lawns are so level that it could be that at one time they served as a croquet lawn or tennis court. A variety of rhododendrons ensure colour in late spring and early summer whilst a variety of mature trees provide privacy and protection. There is a detached garage within the grounds.
