The Church of St Oswald is situated on the eastern side of the village of Dunham on Trent set back from the main street (A57) close to the toll bridge over the River Trent. It lies at the eastern end of Church Walk off The Green.

Durham on Trent is a modest village within this area presently boasting facilities including primary school, modern village hall, recreation ground and a public house. Bisected by the A57 the village enjoys good communication links through to Lincoln in the east, Newark and Retford in the west.
