Full description

This rare, highly impressive converted church was originally built in 1887 as a Syonist Abbey. In 1925 the Redemptoristine Order took over and they lived and worked at the convent until 1990 when they relocated to Liverpool. The whole convent was then divided into six residences, which include the converted church and the old presbytery.

The Church, which benefits from having an architect designed conversion, retains a wealth of character and original features throughout, including the marble columns, vaulted ceilings and a beautifully detailed stained glass window. Sympathetically converted to provide a home of impressive proportions.

Set on the fringes of the popular small town of Chudleigh, surrounded by unspoilt Devon countryside. There are regular bus routes and a good range of shops including a Co-Operative. For larger shops there are supermarkets in Kingsteignton, Newton Abbot and Exeter. Other local amenities in Chudleigh include a cricket field, swimming pool, football pitches, allotments, parks, a doctors surgery, a dentist and a library.  Chudleigh primary school is located in the town along with regular bus services. The well regarded Chudleigh Primary School is in the town and for secondary schools, the popular Teign School is in Kingsteignton.

There are many golf courses close by including Bovey Tracey Golf Club (15 minute drive approx.) set just outside of Dartmoor National Park, enjoying stunning rural views. Stover Golf Club is approximately a 10 minute drive and enjoys Stover Country Park opposite - fantastic for dog walking. Along with Haldon Forest and Dartmoor National Park. Dartmoor National Park is best known for it's striking granite tors, steep wooded river valleys and heather covered moorland. Princesshay shopping centre in Exeter and Drakes Circus in Plymouth are well known for retail shopping.

As the crow flies, Dartmoor National Park is 2 miles away and the Cathedral and university city of Exeter is 9 miles. The market town of Totnes has a mainline railway station with direct links to London Paddington, along with Exeter St Davids station. The A38 (Devon Expressway) which by-passes the town provides great access to Plymouth, Exeter and the M5 motoway network.
