Burfield Lodge is a Grade II listed property built in 1796 by John Carbonell. Steeped in history, it forms part of a group of 18th century houses which were the homes of gentleman, many of whom had some connection with the court at Windsor Castle.

This elegant country home has been divided into three separate properties and Burfield House forms the largest part. It is set back from the road behind double wrought iron gates and an extensive gravelled driveway.

Offering substantial accommodation to all three floors, there is an impressive saloon hall with fireplace which provides access to the inner hallway and elegant drawing room. The main reception room offers a number of beautifully hand crafted ceiling roses, cornicing detail and central log burning stove. The rear of the house offers a modern hand built kitchen/breakfast room, utility and cloakroom. To complete the ground floor, there is a large bedroom and bathroom.

The first floor comprises of three large bedrooms and three bathrooms. The master suite enjoys views of the landscaped gardens and fountain and offers a substantial bedroom with a large en suite and dressing room. There is a separate home office and study also adjoining the master bedroom. The guest suite at the front of the building has a walk-through library, a large bedroom and an en suite facility. The third bedroom is currently configured as a television/cinema room.

The second floor serves as a self-contained flat complete with two bedrooms, a sitting room and a bathroom; ideal as separate accommodation for an au pair.

Externally the landscaped grounds to the rear offer a private walled garden with central fountain and waterfall feature. There is a large log store and access to the property’s private and gated rear entrance with ample parking and double garage.

Location:
Old Windsor is a pleasant riverside village situated adjacent to Runnymede Meadow with good access to the M25 and M4, Heathrow and central London.

History:
Burfield Lodge was left to John Carbonell's widow, Mary, who was reputed to be a mistress of William IV. In 1846 the Carbonell family sold the house to Henry Thomas Curtis Esq. He died in 1879 and the house was bought by Sir William, later Lord Carrington, who was the Equerry to Queen Victoria and later keeper of the Privy Purse to King George V. He had the house re-modelled, adding a balustrade mansard roof after the French Second Empire style. He installed marble fireplaces, said to have been the property of Queen Marie Antoinette.
