Tenure: Freehold

Situated in the heart of the coastal village of Stoke Fleming this home offers all the attractions of a village location, being only 5 minutes' walk to the village shop, pub, village hall and church. The beach of Blackpool Sands is only 15 minutes' walk from the front door. You know you are in the South Hams when you wake up to the bird song coming from the garden.

The garden is a lovely rambly old established wildlife haven facing south that would appeal to the gardener/explorer. Double doors open to the patio, two well stocked fish ponds and borders abound in wildlife. Botanical enthusiasts will blossom ! The potential here can go in any direction either with the children in mind or as a more formal development?

The property has a single garage, with access to the rear garden and off street parking for 3 cars. Family and guests can just drive on up with no hassle searching for that elusive car park.

The Entrance Foyer ensures winter drafts are kept out as your visitors arrive. To the right of the Entrance Foyer is the downstairs cloakroom with WC, sink and laundry provision.

The central hall provides access to the kitchen and sitting room and stairs ascend to give access to the bedrooms and 2nd sitting room on the first floor.

The kitchen has an outlook over the front garden and drive way; you will always have fair warning when guests arrive. Morning sun will pour in through this window and the easterly aspect will keep it more temperate when cooking in the afternoon and early evening. There is room for a breakfast table and the kitchen has ample preparation and storage provision.

The Sitting Room has been opened up to incorporate a spacious dining area. This airy generously proportioned space has doors that open out to the garden. Facing south, sunshine is almost guaranteed. One can easily imagine this area being the hub of the home ideal for those family gatherings and other kinds of entertaining. There is plenty of space for the Christmas Tree?

The stairs in the centre of the house ascend to a hallway giving access to bedrooms, the family bathroom and 2nd Sitting Room

The Master bedroom is generously proportioned with views over the garden and out to the sea. The en-suite, with skylight has a good sized bath and shower.

Bedroom 2 is also a double with views to the garden and sea beyond.

Bedroom 3 has an outlook over the front garden and will have the morning sun to rouse the reluctant teenager.

The Family Bathroom has recently been refurbished, with new fittings and extensive tiling. It is both light and bright with a bath WC and wash hand basin.

The 2nd Sitting Room offers many options that could be customised to suit the new owner's requirements. It would be ideal as an entertainment room with all the high tech toys on offer today for teenagers and Dads (and Mums). This could also be the quiet sitting room, or maybe the area for an elderly relative to settle when they stay with the family. The choices are yours?

Owners Comments

Our family has loved living here in Bidders House over the last 20 years. Sadly the family have flown the nest and our life style is changing. It is time for us to move on. This situation in the village has been wonderful for us, we could walk to everything the village has to offer, and the walk to The Green Dragon seems to be shorter on the return walk. There has always been plenty of space in the house for overseas youngsters who have billeted with us over the years, we have a treasure trove of happy memories. Winters have always been warm, cosy and cheerful and summers have been a joy with the doors open to the garden.
It is someone else's time to enjoy Bidders House as much as we have.
