Tenure: Freehold

We can do no better than to use the words of the current owner..

"I remember when we bought the house in 1981 it was advertised in the Darlington and Stockton Times and was for sale by the owner; there was no agent involved. They had a little 1 inch square picture and were having an open day on the following Saturday. I remember phoning to arrange a viewing and being told that there were 7 couples that wanted to see it on the open day. In fact, the first couple to see it had made an offer which had been accepted but it didn't stop me from going to see it.

It took me some time but I eventually found the house and as I stood there and looked at it, there wasn't a cloud in the sky. There was a light dusting of snow at the time and I remember the Polyanthus in that beautiful garden.

The minute I saw it, my heart turned over.

I rang for the next 2 or 3 weeks asking whether the sale was still going through. Then out of the blue, the owners called and said that the buyer had to move to Manchester with his job and did we still want the house. Well, we agreed on the spot and the house was ours.

I still remember that little advert in the D&S Times saying "..lived in and loved for the last 27 years" and we lived in it and loved it for the next 37..."

Exceptional Grade II listed property once belonging to the Eden Estate and formerly used as the Estate Managers residence.

In need of some decoration and modernisation, this exceptional property with its separate stable block and paddock is now ready to be loved by its new owners. Rarely will you find a more tranquil location and beautiful property.

The owners love: The location, the history and architecture.

We love: The gardens are simply beautiful and the house looks like something you'd see on the front of a chocolate box.
