Full description

Tenure: Share of Freehold

A two bedroom ground floor flat with private garden just five minutes walk from the centre of Hither Green and the train station, with direct trains to central London.

The property dates back to 1890 and has a share of freehold with the first floor flat.

The south-facing living room is light and airy with a period feature chimney breast. The open-plan kitchen/diner is the real heart of the home, with a breakfast bar, solid oak worktops, a high ceiling giving it a really spacious feel, and patio doors opening onto the garden.

The master bedroom is a good size; at the back of the property it has views of the garden and is particularly peaceful at night. In the mornings you can hear the birds singing in the trees behind. The second bedroom is a good-sized child’s room but can also fit a folded-out double sofa bed so works well as a guest room too.

The bathroom is compact but has everthing a bathoom needs, including full-sized bath (and being small takes no time to clean!)

The garden gets sun most of the day, and feels like an oasis of tranquility with several mature shrubs, a small lawn and patio area.

The location

The flat is five minutes from the centre of Hither Green, with a pub, shops and cafes. The area has a real community feel and is fabulous for young families. There is lots going on for children, and several lovely parks within walking distance, the closest of which, Manor Park, is three minutes walk and has a community café with various workshops for adults and children, plus the café puts out toys for the children making an informal outdoor playgroup.

For working professionals there are trains to Charing Cross, calling at Waterloo East, getting you to the West End, plus another line going to Cannon Street which takes you to the City. Both branches call at London Bridge, meaning there are very frequent trains (roughly 8 per hour). If this isn’t enough, some trains call at Lewisham, where you can also get the DLR and other trains. The overground can be accessed from trains calling at New Cross, so that’s the east-end covered too.

The shopping centre of Lewisham is fifteen minutes walk and has all the shops you might need, plus daily markets selling fruit and veg, fish, flowers etc. Lewisham is currently undergoing lots of redevelopment with new shops and cafes popping up, plus an extension to the Bakerloo Line, out to Lewisham and Ladywell station (15 minutes walk), is in the pipeline.
