Greenfold, simply THE most quintessentially English country cottage we’ve set our eyes upon, sits within the sleepy hamlet of Hall Dunnerdale, near Seathwaite and within the beautiful unspoilt Duddon Valley.

The Accommodation
A honeysuckle covered porch to the front of this almost 200 year old property beckons you inside this fabulously designed and stunningly presented home. The whole of the ground floor is dressed in slate flags complimented by a wealth of exposed beams and trusses. The attractive and spacious sitting room has a warming wood burning stove, the handy study or library sitting just off here.

Through to the grand dining hall with impressive cruck frame trusses and another wood burning stove. A useful cloakroom sits adjacent to the Fired Earth Bastide style breakfast kitchen, a traditionally designed yet luxurious facility with electric Aga and Bastide freestanding units. French doors from here lead out the garden.

Bedrooms & Bathrooms
The first floor accommodation provides two sunny bedrooms to the front of the cottage, beautifully presented and share in the glorious house bathroom, a Fired Earth suite of freestanding bath, shower enclosure, hand basin and W.C.

The Grounds
Step through the cleft oak garden gate and into the landscaped cottage garden to the front, through a rose covered pergola. Beautifully designed in keeping with the age and style of the cottage. The extensive rear garden is fully enclosed and offers a mix of manicured beds and pathways lined with perfectly chosen specimen plants to ensure colour throughout the seasons and beautiful oak arbours to add to the romance of this English country garden.

The oak framed garage doubles as a utility area with adjacent stone and oak wood store. The well planned garden boasts two oak log stores whilst the beautifully presented garden room, complete with oak cupboards and pull down double bed is the perfect spot to sit and admire the colour and fragrance of the grounds. A greenhouse sits within the orderly vegetable garden.

There is off road parking to the front for up to four vehicles. Gated access from the formal garden area at the rear is provided to an expansive area of private paddock from where to take in fabulous views of the local Fell range, with gated vehicular access from the northern boundary.

Location
The setting is idyllic; approximately two acres of private grounds in the heart of rural Cumbria, UNESCO’s newest World Heritage Site. The house is fringed by a winning combination of formal, landscaped gardens with informal paddock from where to soak up a full 360 degree view of Dow Crag, Grey Friars, Wallabarrow Crag and Caw Fell.

The 16th century Newfield Inn is just less than a mile down the road where you’ll receive a warm welcome and a cold beverage and the renowned market town of Broughton-In-Furness, 8 miles away provides a good selection of amenities including petrol station, butcher, baker and post office. Join the A590 at Greenodd in just less than half an hour and pick up links for the west coast main line from Ulverston station, 17 miles away.

Directions
From the Windermere office, follow the A592 down to Newby Bridge and turn right at the roundabout onto the A590 to Greenodd. Turn Right at the Greenodd roundabout, signposted Broughton and Millom and follow the road for approx. 10 miles, past Burlington Slate quarry, through Grizebeck, past the High Cross Inn and down to the traffic lights at Duddon Bridge. Turn right at the lights before the bridge signposted Seathwaite and continue down this road for approx. 15 mins crossing the river Duddon, past Ulpha Church and Post Office, after a further 2 miles cross the river again and enter the hamlet of Hall Dunnerdale.
