Full description

This substantial property is beautifully presented with period features throughout and has three impressive reception rooms, eight bedrooms and six bathrooms. The grounds total around two and a half acres, including a grand tree lined driveway, wonderful gardens and a garage/outbuilding. The residence is located in the Yorkshire Dales National Park and is within easy reach of the M6, A66 and the Lake District.

The House
The residence was built around 1850 for local businessman John Hewetson. Little expense was spared on the house and its contents and many magnificent original features remain, including Italian marble fireplaces and Palladian style door surrounds. The principal ground and first floor rooms are of generous proportions with high ceilings and dual aspect windows overlooking the grounds. The property is currently a private residence and has previously served as a hotel.  A porticoed front entrance leads into a stately entrance hall with grand central staircase, which divides into two branches at a half landing. Off the entrance hall are three superb reception rooms, each with an open fire with classical marble surround.

To the rear of the ground floor is a stylish dining kitchen with bespoke solid wood fitted cabinetry, built in appliances and Aga range. Off the kitchen is a utility room with door to garden, a wet room and an additional flexible use room. Stairs lead down to extensive basement rooms, having various large storerooms with conversion potential.

To the first floor are four spacious light filled bedrooms, each having an ensuite bath or shower room and the two largest having fireplaces. The attic was originally the servants quarters and has been renovated to provide an additional three bedrooms, a sitting area and a shower room.

The Grounds
Lane Hall is set in extensive grounds around two and a half acres with mature woodland on the perimeter offering privacy and attracting wildlife, including red squirrels. An imposing pillared entrance opens into a magnificent tree lined driveway, passing through the woodland grounds up to a large parking area. On the east side of the property is a raised terrace with seating area set under a beautiful rose covered arbor. To the south of the property is a lovely walled kitchen garden with vegetable beds, fruit trees and seating areas. The grounds have CCTV and are completed by a large outbuilding which incorporates a large chicken run, store room and garage. (Note: the outbuilding adjoins a neighbouring property).
