Thought to have been built in the 1820’s, 26 Harbour Street is a distinctive “B” listed home which has been lovingly and sympathetically renovated to an impressive specification by the current owners.
This much admired traditional home is set in a highly sought after location on Harbour Street which has painted cottages, lines of palm trees on the waterfront and a backdrop of stupendous wooded crags, providing an exotic charm that is rarely found in Highland villages. Unusually for properties on Harbour Street it comes with a front garden and garage.

The current owners purchased the property in 2004 and embarked on a refurbishment programme, which included a host of improvements and re-modelling of the accommodation carried in a measured way in order to protect the heritage and period features. Prior to that, the property had been in the ownership of the same family since 1967.

The accommodation is extremely flexible and is arranged over three levels, with all of the front facing rooms enjoying stunning views over the harbour and those to the rear, overlooking the beautiful landscaped gardens. The sale of the property will suit a variety of buyers, those looking for a comfortable holiday home in beautiful surroundings and equally those looking for a lifestyle opportunity. The area is very popular with the sailing fraternity and moorings are available.

Entrance to the property is via a split stable door leading into the hallway and to an under stair storage cupboard. The kitchen comes with a range of Miele fitted wall and base storage units and includes an Aga, American style fridge freezer, electric hob, dish washer and washing machine. There is ample space for a table and chairs for informal dining. Across the hallway is the Dining Room for more formal occasions and entertaining, which has exposed roof beams, raised skirtings, fireplace and loch views.

The staircase leads to the half landing and the utility/boot room and modern bathroom which comes with bath, wash hand basin, wc, wall and floor tiles and a heated towel rail. On the first floor there is a beautifully appointed sitting room which has elevated views over the bay to Duncraig Castle and beyond, two large double bedrooms, contemporary shower room, wc and family bathroom.

On the second floor the landing leads to a further two bedrooms with coombe ceilings and delightful views.

Plockton is considered one of the UK’s most beautiful locations and enjoys a mild climate due to the Gulf Stream. Sheltered by a headland from the wind and open sea, the small community is located at the mouth of Loch Carron. There are un-spoilt sandy beaches on the seaward shore, reached only by footpaths, and a maze of narrow lanes explore the hinterland of forests, lochs, mountains and moors. Plockton was developed as a herring port in the early 19th century and is now a haven for summer visitors including artists and yachtsmen. In 1973 the village was the location for the feature film The Wicker Man and in 1995 Plockton was chosen for the popular television series Hamish MacBeth.

The village itself has its own reputable primary and secondary schools and a small local village store that provides for everyday needs and requirements. Plockton village also has a number of small hotels, B&B accommodation, restaurants, coffee shops and pubs. There are endless opportunities for outdoor pursuits which include hillwalking, sailing, golf and fishing with stalking and shooting available on nearby estates. The bay provides shelter and safe moorings for the many boats that visit Plockton. Nearby Plockton airstrip, built by the Royal Engineers in 1966, is available for use by private light aircraft. The village is also served by rail from Inverness. The Inverness to Kyle line was featured in a series by Michael Palin who stated that this was one of the most beautiful railway journeys in the world.

The property has gardens both front and rear. To the front and across the road is a beautifully landscaped Ying and Yang styled garden area with a sun terrace and single garage. The gardens to the rear are a particular feature. The sloped bank has been transformed into a colourful array of plants, trees and shrubs and a pathway leads to the top of the garden and to a magnificent summer house with idyllic far reaching views of the ever changing landscape. The perfect place to relax and unwind.
