Full description

This period home, circa 1840's, has some typically asymmetrical accommodation and in this particular instance, with the majority of ground and first floor rooms looking out in a South easterly fashion towards a private and substantial garden plot. The Cedars is an especially attractive early Victorian, sandstone built property, standing no more than a ten minute stroll from Oxton Village...

Enclosed by well maintained (an in part,re-built) sandstone boundary walls, this large semi detached property is indeed made private from the road and neighbours, by said boundary, together with its orientation, (standing on the corner of Fairview Road and Arno Road) and for size of garden plot.

Both client and agent appreciate the opportunities not only to upgrade and refurbish but also to remodel. (The Cedars is not a listed building). Take the ancillary lean to adjacent to the kitchen and including a wc, for example. Or the walk through Butler's Pantry, from breakfast room to living room. Look especially at the dressing room come bathroom facilities with access off the 'master' bedroom. Some remodelling here would likely offer you a fifth bedroom plus en suite facilities perhaps. (Currently it is an extravagantly sized 'his & her' dressing room and integrated shower room.

The remaining three double bedrooms, all good handsome bedrooms, are serviced by a combined bathroom (with a clear window which if it does nothing does underlie the privacy of the garden view).

The layout is a little quirky, our only observation being that The Cedars was apparently extended to the west side in 1907, providing what is now the main living room and matching sized room above.

Stop too, to consider and admire the garden views from all bar the kitchen and two bedrooms; the former giving access to a newly laid private courtyard area which benefits from morning sunshine.

That typically inviting and most 'period' of halls leads on to what is essentially 'double fronted' accommodation, with one reception room, off to the right hand side of the hall, not shown on our slide show of photographs - for no other reason that it has become a latter day store room....but admirably suits as a more formal dining room, should that be your style.

Of course, the kitchen breakfast room, with gas fired Aga and much exposed sandstone wall also has the potential to appeal as a welcoming hub, a place to invite most guests.

As you'd expect, more likely so in the knowledge that our clients have enjoyed fifty years in residence; that all windows remain single glazed and faithfully of 'the period'; albeit not all original. The gas central heating system runs off a two year old Worcester boiler offering a pressurised system - the Aga is run independently.

Outdoors - We have taken quite a few external shots to convey the privacy, its maturity, its mix of lawn, borders, veg patch, fruit trees including a Mulbury and patio space - more than usual on show, perhaps - a measure of how much we appreciated this gorgeous outdoor space and here's hoping you do too...

Locator - Stroll up to the left along Fairview Road, pass by all the other differently shaped and sized period homes and head towards the village passing The Shrew Pub and into the village itself - not far at all although plenty far enough not to be bothered by a thriving village atmosphere day and night. For your Sat Nav: CH43 5UJ
