GENERAL INFORMATION

'Murrion' is situated in the particularly scenic area of Eshaness in the Northmavine area of Shetland approximately 15 miles north of Brae, and 40 miles from Lerwick.

The Shetland Islands lie in the middle of the North Sea about 100 miles north of Mainland Scotland, and are in fact closer to Bergen in Norway than to Edinburgh. A daily overnight ferry service links Shetland with Aberdeen & Orkney (www.northlink.co.uk), and there are regular flights by Loganair (www.loganair.co.uk) from Sumburgh Airport at the very southern tip of Shetland, to Aberdeen, Glasgow & Edinburgh, islanders currently enjoying discounted airfares.
Eshaness is a particularly unspoilt area of Shetland well known for its dramatic and rugged cliff scenery with great walks along the cliff tops by the lighthouse just over three miles from the house.

On the road to the lighthouse, about a mile from the house, is a summer cafe and campsite, further amenities being available at nearby Hillswick (approximately 6 miles) where there is a community-owned licensed shop with part-time post office & fuel, a health centre and hotel.

On the road back towards Lerwick there is a primary school at Urafirth, and another shop & school at Ollaberry, whilst Brae, the main population centre for the North Mainland, is the location of the area's high school, a swimming pool & leisure centre, another health centre, Co-op mini-supermarket, garage services and various other social & recreational activities.

The House - Accommodation
The house is a semi-detached, traditional, storey and a half croft house comprising two rooms on the ground floor and 2 rooms upstairs, plus a later extension to the rear housing the living room, kitchen and bathroom. Central heating is provided by an oil-fired boiler in the kitchen.
