Location

Braehead is situated in a lovely rural setting to the south of the River North Esk, which is the county boundary between Angus and Kincardineshire. It is very conveniently located with the easily accessible A90 dual carriageway providing fast access to both Aberdeen and Dundee. Journey times to Aberdeen and Aberdeen Airport will be further improved with the opening of the Western Peripheral Route.

The nearby village of Hillside provides a local shop / post office and a primary school.
More extensive shopping, together with banks, secondary schooling and a swimming pool and leisure centre are found in Montrose, which also has a railway station with regular services to Aberdeen and to the south, including a sleeper. In addition there is a railway station at Laurencekirk which also has a range of shopping and further secondary education at Mearns Academy. Private schooling is available locally at Lathallan. Aberdeen Airport has a range of domestic and European flights and there are services from Dundee to London Stansted.

There are popular beaches at Lunan Bay and St Cyrus. Away from the coast lie the Angus Glens. Fishing can be taken on the rivers North and South Esk, while local golf courses include Montrose, Brechin and Edzell. Montrose Basin is a nature reserve which is renowned for its wide variety of migrating birds.

Description

Braehead is an attractive and modern country house with lovely views, particularly to the hills to the north. It is also conveniently located for the A90 dual carriageway. Braehead was originally two semi-detached two storey farm cottages, with an adjacent bothy. They were acquired by the sellers who set about converting and extending the properties, to create the house of today. Substantial renovations were undertaken, developing what is in effect a new house, which was completed in 2001 and won a Montrose Civic Trust Award for excellence in civic design. The house, which benefits from double glazing and oil fired central heating, has been designed to make the most of its position and the views out over the garden and agricultural land. Internally it provides comfortable and well presented accommodation, which is ideal for both modern family living and for entertaining. At ground floor level are four good sized reception rooms - a drawing room, dining room, sitting room and a study - which are all arranged off the hallway.. Off the drawing room is a sun room, which is designed to capitalise on the lovely evening light, as well as the views, and which along with the dining room also links to the garden. The dining kitchen can be accessed from both the hallway and dining room and beyond is a useful utility room and one of the two downstairs WCs. Upstairs there are two bedrooms with en suite bathrooms, three further bedrooms and a family bathroom. The original attached stone built bothy has been retained and is now used for garaging and as a workshop / store.

Square Footage: 4,010 sq ft
Acreage: 0.7 Acres

If coming from the A90 dual carriageway (Dundee to Aberdeen), some 1.3 miles north of Stracathro, or some 5 miles south of Laurencekirk take the turning at Northwaterbridge (the county boundary between Angus and Kincardineshire) signposted Hillside. After 2 miles turn right signposted Bank of Gallery. Proceed up the farm road, passing the side of the farm and then bear right onto the drive. The gates into Braehead will be seen on the left.

If coming from Montrose take the A937 signposted for Marykirk. In Hillside take the turning on the left signposted Stracathro and Upper Northwaterbridge. Continue for 3.3 miles and then take the second turning into Bank of Gallery on the left, and continue as above.
