Our Time Here - It was the convenience of the location for personal reasons that first drew me to this property, as it was within safe walking distance for my grandchildren. Another factor I liked was that in less than a 10 minute walk, you can be into open countryside. It's ideal for people who like running or have dogs or children.
The house was the sort of place I felt that I could make into a home. It allowed personal space, and plenty of room for entertaining the family. All of the rooms have different purposes. I particularly enjoy the large living room with the wood-burning stove, and this divides into two areas so you can have adults in one part and children in another. Likewise the room at the top of the house is very spacious and makes an ideal playroom, as you can close the door and forget about any mess the children have made, while the rest of the house remains civilised! I had considered extending out the back and knocking down one wall in the kitchen to make a kitchen diner.
The house is situated just beyond the cricket club, within walking distance of the hospital. There's a good bus service from inside the hospital grounds. It's a very convenient location, offering close proximity to the lovely, interesting and historic city of Canterbury, but also so near to the countryside. Waitrose is about a 15 minute walk from the house, and I like to cycle into the city centre (a mile away) or to the train station at Canterbury West with its high speed service to London, which is two miles away from the house.
It has been a good home and I'll be sorry to leave it. I feel the time has come to downsize while I'm still fit and able but I have been very happy here.
