Description
Local Area
Great Yeldham is a large country village, here you can find the Yeldham Oak situated in the centre of the village on a small triangular green, wrapped in iron to support it, some say that it has seen 1000 years of history. It stands as the trunk of the oldest tree in Essex, the very last example of the forest of trees which once clothed the whole valley. It has a Post Office and several other shops and stores. There is a large primary school, two hotels and one public house as well as the Great Yeldham Reading Room which is the village hall. The sports ground with its pavilion, supports cricket and football clubs and there is also a scouts hut on the grounds. For commuters you have access to both Sudbury and Braintree Station offering access to London Liverpool Street.
