VENDORS' DESCRIPTION
We have lived here for nearly 27 very happy years. We have raised two boys, now both adult, and it has been an excellent house and garden to raise our family, through childhood, the teenage years, and early adulthood. Sadly it is time for us to downsize, and give another family the chance to enjoy this space. We hope we have been good stewards during our time here, and have added qualitative value. We have undertaken major projects such as creating a new kitchen, and changing the staircase to enable a study to be fitted in. The outbuildings (originally a stable, hayloft and coach-house) have been upgraded to include insulation and modern electrical wiring. We have re-created access to a vaulted cellar, originally the old boiler house; we have added some flooring and extra storage in the attic and created access to the flat roof - an excellent vantage point to view the annual Matlock Bath firework displays! The roof and gutters have been recently renovated, maintaining the period features. Outside, re-terracing has provided us with a substantial vegetable garden.
We've nurtured the garden and a small piece of woodland attached to the property to attract wildlife: frogs, newts, toads, start their life in two small wildlife ponds; slow-worms, hedgehogs and bats make regular visits! The views from our house and a spacious summerhouse overlooking the valley are breath-taking. There is easy access to Sheffield, Nottingham, Derby, and of course the beautiful Peak District. During cold weather, the combination of the protection that the hill behind affords, thick stone walls and efficient central heating complimented by a Clearview fire in the main sitting room, means that we never need feel the cold! We look forward to welcoming new owners to our home.
