The Vendor's View - We were first attracted to this property twelve years ago when we saw the details in an agent’s window one evening. We were impressed by the size and character of the house and the potential it had for generating an income with the self-contained basement flat. We have since had a great tenant there for the past 9 years.
The house is very original and quirky with some lovely features. The turret roof has a lovely weathervane, which I have painted gold while renovating the outside of the property, along with a lead fish lucky charm, which was placed when the house was built to bring wealth and prosperity for the household! Both the beam above the fireplace and the front slate step have the year of construction engraved on them. I have also carried the ‘slate’ theme into the garden pond which has blue lights installed, as well as the kitchen which has blue lights under the countertops. I have an eye for detail so all of the fittings throughout the house (with the exception of the kitchen) are matching brass fittings including door handles and sockets.
We particularly like the unusual shape and layout of the house, with plenty of unique features; such as the bow windows, which fill the rooms with light. The house also benefits from a triple garage, offering plenty of space for parking or a variety of uses such as a workshop or home gym.
The location is very convenient, close to road and rail links. The town, harbour and beach are all within walking distance, and you can reach the train station on foot in around 10 minutes. The motorway is easily accessible from the property
We will really miss the character of the property. It has been a really lovely family home for us; our children have grown up here and thoroughly enjoyed playing hide and seek in all the rooms and nooks and crannies! It’s a really versatile property and there are so many things you could do here.
