Tenure: Freehold

This beautiful stone built farmhouse is situated in a prime position to enjoy the fine views of the surrounding area and rolling hills beyond. Situated between the two popular villages of Whitwell and Niton, this property offers a real lifestyle home with local conveniences within easy reach and the main town of Newport just a fifteen-minute drive away. The property retains many original features such as flagstone floors, exposed beams, bread oven and open fireplaces. The current owners were offered the opportunity to restore the farm house back to its original glory after it had historically been separated into two dwellings. Restored sympathetically the farm house now boasts extensive ground floor space and has four large bedrooms on the first floor and a wide and light landing space that benefits from the breath-taking outlook over the fields and beyond. On first entering this stunning property, you are greeted with a light entrance hall, with a door leading into a cloakroom with extensive space for coats and shoes to suit even the largest of families. There are three spacious reception rooms, a lovely cosy lounge area with a fitted wood burner, with views to the front of the home, and a more formal sitting room with dual aspect windows which runs the full depth of the farmhouse. The formal dining room boasts a commanding fireplace with its original bread oven still in situ. This is a lovely room situated adjacent to the well fitted kitchen which offers a wealth of built in cupboards and lovely views out over the surrounding area. There is also a bespoke conservatory that leads from the dining room that the current owners use as a wonderful breakfast/summer room. In addition to the ground floor, what was a downstairs cloakroom, also now offers a shower cubicle perfect for access from the garden. The first floor provides four double bedrooms, the master of which has a large en-suite with both bath and shower facilities, the other bedrooms are served by a beautiful modern shower room. To the outside of the home, there is a parking area to the front with gated access to the rear courtyard area which has a Mediterranean style garden above. From here there are steps that lead up to the main garden, with a wealth of mature shrubs and mature trees.

What the Owner says:

This property has been our home for over 17 years. When we purchased in 2000, the house was divided into two and we bought the back of the house. Five years ago we were able to buy the front and make the house back to its original from when it was built in 1750. We instructed a local builder and worked with him to retain the original features where possible, but also added a modern twist to the upstairs to give a light airy feel.

The garden has been worked on over the years; borders, hedging and trees have been added, there are soft fruit bushes, apples, pears and cherry trees – in fact enough fruit to last us a year! There is a manageable vegetable plot and greenhouse along with many unusual plants to attract the bees and other insects. It is also a haven for birds such as gold finches and wood peckers. On hot sunny days larks can be heard on the Redhill, swallows swoop over the field opposite and in early morning hares can be seen boxing from the bathroom window. We added summer house made of Island stone reclaimed from a demolition in Ventnor to match in with the existing home.

We sit in the front garden and chat with dog walkers and horse riders that pass by, and watch the sun go down over the hills that surround us in all directions.
We are only leaving our little paradise to join our family who live on the mainland and abroad.
