LOCATION Salcombe is a renowned sailing and boating centre located on the west side of the beautiful Salcombe estuary with miles of sheltered water and sandy beaches. The boat parks, slipways and mooring pontoons at Batson and Shadycombe Creeks make it the ideal location for anyone with a keen interest in the water as well as anyone looking for a tranquil environment to escape the rat race.

Salcombe has an excellent range of shops and recreational facilities including a wide range of pubs and restaurants. The popular town is a stylish holiday resort enjoyed by families all year round.
The market town of Kingsbridge is located 6 miles away and has an excellent range of shopping facilities with two large supermarkets and other small local retailers on the high street. There are also multiple heath care facilities, primary and secondary schools, a large leisure centre with swimming pool and other recreational facilities.

Surrounding Salcombe and Kingsbridge there are numerous sandy beaches and coastal walks along the South Devon coast path and access to the delightful South Hams countryside.

DESCRIPTION Nicknamed 'The Boat Flat' 2 Charborough house has to be seen to be truly believed. Purchased in 1997 by the current owners, the property is completely unique. Originally a hotel, Charborough house is a beautiful Victorian villa which in 1990 was converted into apartments.

Located at the lower end of Devon Road the apartment is a very quick, easy walk in to the centre of Salcombe. With a stunning south east facing full length balcony, and breath-taking estuary views up towards South Pool Creek the property really is special.
From the moment, the current owner stepped foot in the two-bedroom apartment, he knew exactly what his vision for it would be, although his wife was not so sure! Working alongside Marie Hussey, a professional interior designer who owned a shop in Salcombe at the time, they started to put things in motion, to transform the what was very drab, dated interior into something spectacular. Marie engaged local boat builder David Penwill to ensure everything was going to be done to exacting standards.

In the early days of the renovation David and the current owner visited the William Fife Yacht 'Fur Elise' which is where a lot of the inspiration for the design was taken from, including the dining table and the wood that has been used throughout the apartment. Derek, Marie's husband, set to work sourcing some beautiful antiques and artefacts, including a ships bell from HMML 333, which participated in the famous raid on Zeebrugge on St Georges Day 1918. The bell is attached to a genuine spar mast, which creates a stunning focal point in the living area. In recent years, additional boat work has been carried out by 'Traditional Sail' a well-known and respected local boat builder.

The apartment itself has two bedrooms along with an art deco design family shower room. The living space is open plan running the entire depth of the property with a galley style kitchen to the back. This open plan design makes a stunning living/dining space benefiting from French doors onto the balcony.

There is so much more that could be written about 'The Boat Flat' and the current owners and their family are of course incredibly fond of it and will be sorry to see it go, although they happily wish the new Captain and Crew happy times aboard!
