About the Area
Glastonbury's past and its present are linked with its dominant landmark and the town grew up alongside the Abbey and become a manufacturing and trading centre. Today it's a thriving market town and a major tourist venue, welcoming thousands of visitors each year. Medieval Glastonbury - designated a conservation area - clusters around the evocative ruins of the Abbey. Meare is a village and civil parish 3 miles northwest of Glastonbury and has been a settled site for even longer than Glastonbury. The parish Church of St Mary, formerly in the keeping of Glastonbury Abbey dates from 1323 and is a Grade I listed building. The village also has a primary school, a pre-school, a number of societies and clubs and a good community spirit. A farm shop selling essentials and local produce is located around half a mile away on the outskirts of the village between Meare and Westhay.

Downs Orchard is located on the western side of the village of Meare and just a 10-minute walk to the primary and pre-school, both of which have been awarded outstanding by Ofsted.

The open plan front garden is lawned with a tarmacadam driveway that leads to the garage and gives off road parking. The garage has an up and over door and has been divided inside by a stud wall. There is still a small space behind the up and over door, giving storage space for bicycles, tools etc. However, the stud wall could easily be removed to turn this space back into the original single garage. A pathway with a timber gate at the side of the house leads to the rear garden. The rear garden is fully enclosed with brick walls and fencing. It has a paved patio area, lawn with a mature flowering cherry tree and lovely decked area facing westerly. This would be a super place to enjoy summer evening's al fresco dining whilst sitting under the pergola planted with a mature grape vine.

From Wedmore take the Mudgley hill road towards Glastonbury, pass through Westhay and continue and enter Meare. Take the 3rd turning on the right into Downs Orchard and then the first left. Number 5 is the first house facing you on the left hand side. From Glastonbury take the road towards Wedmore and enter Meare. Continue through the village taking the turning left into Downs Orchard and then the first left. Number 5 is the first house facing you on the left hand side.
