The Vendor's View - We were first drawn to the striking Tudor façade of this property. The exposed beams are probably one of our favourite period features of the house and we also love the large sunny garden. It’s a 16th century timber framed house and when you walk through the door you feel like you are walking into a piece of history! When we first saw the property, we looked at it and said “wow, we have to live here!”. We think this is one of the prettiest houses in Sandwich.
In the winter time our favourite room is probably the lounge. We have a log burner in there and lots of exposed beams; it’s a really warm and cosy space. Sat next to the roaring fire, you really feel like you’re shutting the world out. In the summer time the walled garden is a fantastic place to relax. We have refurbished the kitchen, which has lovely flagstone floors and a cream AGA. It has become the heart of the home, and that’s where we spend the majority of our time with family and friends.
Sandwich is the friendliest place we have ever lived. We moved from London and within weeks of moving here, we seemed to know everyone! The house is located in an excellent position within the town centre; right in the heart of the conservation area and only a 2 minute walk to all the amenities you could ever need. We also like the fact that we are equidistant from the beach and the countryside, which are within walking distance or a 5-10 minute drive. When we moved here we knew we wanted a family, and so the excellent reputation of the schools in the area was also an important factor for us.
The house has a really warm and friendly feel to it and we will really miss that. We are only moving as we have some elderly relatives coming to live with us, and so it is with great sadness that we have to move, though we will be remaining locally. Living in this wonderful house has been a pleasure and helped us create some of the happiest memories of our lives including getting married from here and having our first child.
