The Vendor's View - We have been so privileged to own Christmas House since May 1999, when we moved in with two kids, two cats and nowhere near enough furniture! We loved it at first sight, the property has great curb appeal. Our children were still young, 15 and 9, and this house was, quite simply, a spectacularly wonderful home to bring up a family, especially during their teenage years with sleepovers etc. The neighbourhood is a lovely, quiet, safe place.
The kids both went to Sir Roger Manwood’s Grammar School in Sandwich and it was so easy for them to walk 200 yards and hop on the train at Walmer Station. Getting into London using the high speed rail was a real bonus.
We were never on top of one another; the kids could play in their rooms with friends and not bother us downstairs, the garden was so safe and manageable; all in all a lovely space which has hosted numerous BBQs, family birthdays, anniversaries, engagements and, of course, Christmas, which was made so easy with the spacious rooms and flowing layout.
Wintery Friday nights were traditionally Jacuzzi nights with a bottle of bubbly to celebrate the end of the working week, and on Sundays we cooked many roast dinners using the large dual-fuel range cooker in the kitchen. We watched our daughter get engaged in the lounge on Christmas Day and this is our fondest memory.
The surrounding area is great for families; there are several clusters of local shops, including a chemist, butchers, several supermarkets, fish and chip shops etc. as well, of course, as Deal itself which is only a three-minute drive away with its fabulous restaurants and pubs.
The kids have grown up and left home so it is, with great regret, time for us to sell. It has been for us, quite simply, a wonderful home which holds many treasured memories.
