8 bedroom detached bungalow for sale

Darwin Road, Birchington

Sold STC £650,000

Property Description

Full description

Situated in 'Darwin Road' a tree lined private road in Birchington, within walking distance of the seafront, village centre and train station. Believed to have been built by Delissa Joseph in the 1880’s, this is an early example of an Indian Lodge, one feature is a tower with high windows that apparently the owners used to view the sea ships coming in from The Thames.
The property is entered via the tower, you then have the master bedroom with a beautiful fireplace and the lounge, down the hallway to the left there are four single bedrooms and a bathroom, the bedrooms have been sub divided and could easily be reverted back to two double bedrooms. This property offers such flexibility and versatility for different living requirements. To the right of the hallway there are three double bedrooms, a shower room with W.C and a further bathroom. At the rear of the property there is a large kitchen/diner, with access to both a utility room and a conservatory from this room, giving access to the garden.
The owner informs us the property sits on a plot of approximately 1/4 of an acre, there is a driveway with parking for numerous vehicles and a large garage. There is a front garden with a lawn, mature conifers, flowerbeds and hedging and the rear garden has a large lawn with mature trees and flowerbeds.
Birchington town centre is a short walk away where you will find a good variety of shops, bars and restaurants as well as a mainline railway station providing regular services to London. The Cathedral City of Canterbury is approximately 14 miles away and there are good road links to London via the A299 Thanet Way and the M2 motorway.

The Vendor's View - We were first drawn to the shape and very quiet location of this unique property and fell in love with it as soon as we saw it. North Sea Lodge is very attractive and our favourite feature is definitely the unusual tower.

We spend most of our time in the kitchen and lounge, both of which are spacious rooms, ideal for socialising with friends, entertaining and of course, day-to-day family life. One of the things we love best about the house is the fact that it feels very safe here, an important factor when raising our children, foster children and now looking after our grandchildren.

As well as being quiet and safe, the location is surprisingly central, and you are within easy walking distance of just about anything you could possibly need. Situated on what feels like a quiet country lane, you are mere minutes from the town, all local amenities, the beach and seafront and even the train station – which is just a 2 minute walk away. Commuters will be glad to hear that you can have a very simple trip to London in just an hour and a half from the front door!

This area is renowned for great schools for children of all ages including good local primary, secondary and grammar schools. Being so close to the beach and the countryside, it’s ideal for growing children.

We have been very happy here for 33 years and we will miss the space that it has offered our family over the years as it has changed and grown. We will look back on our time here with very fond memories and hope to find our new home in the local area.
