SITUATION
Helpston is a flourishing and attractive village situated mid-way between Peterborough and Stamford with a real sense of community. The poet John Clare was born in Helpston in 1793 and is buried in the churchyard of St Botolph’s. His name and work are a proud part of village heritage. The thatched cottage at 12 Woodgate, where he was born, was bought by the John Clare Trust in 2005 and has been restored using traditional building methods and is open to the public.

With a public house, post office, village shop, athletics club, tennis court, livery yards, dog walking group and garden centre, village life is thriving. The well thought of primary school offers a popular pre-school and feeds secondary education in Glinton, about three miles away. Wider Schooling in the area is renowned with Stamford, Oundle, Oakham and Uppingham close by and an excellent choice of state schools within easy reach also.

The nearby, stone market town of Stamford is renowned for its Georgian architecture and regularly appears as a prime location within various national newspaper “best places to live” features. There is a weekly Friday Market and a fortnightly Farmers' Market. There are also a great variety of restaurants, hotels and boutique shops to explore.

The A1 junction at Wansford is about 5miles south west of the village and provides easy access both north and south.

The Cathedral City of Peterborough, some 8miles away, offers comprehensive shopping and leisure facilities and a main line rail station with high speed trains to London Kings Cross. Leisure facilities in the area are many with Tallington Lakes on your doorstep and Rutland Water some 12 miles to the west. There is excellent golfing at Luffenham Heath, Burghley Park and Greetham Valley golf clubs also easily accessible.
