The house was built in 1865 by the Cator Family as the lodge house to this part of the Cator Estate. It remained with the family and was finally sold for the first time in 1947. It is mentioned by Sir Nikolaus Pevsner, the renowned Art and Architecture scholar, who refers to “a small colourful Italianate lodge” on Manor Way (‘The Buildings of England’, London 2 South) and is shown by the local historian Neil Rhind, in his book “Blackheath Village and Environs” with a photograph from circa 1900.

The Lodge House is located on Manor Way on the edge of the prestigious Cator Estate and just 0.4 miles from Blackheath Village with its array of bars, restaurants, boutique shops and mainline station. Trains from Blackheath to London Bridge take approximately 10 minutes, and approximately 25 minutes to Victoria. The heath is only 0.55 miles and Greenwich Park just a short walk away.
