Full description

The name Cowley is Anglo Saxon and means a field where charcoal was burned. So we believe there may have been people living here even before the well documented Norman Hall. Since then, there have been an Elizabethan Manor House and the current building, most of which was built in the 1720's, with additions possibly in the 1820's. Cowley Manor was owned by the Dukes of Norfolk until 1920. Since then, only four families have lived in the house. The property is on the edge of Chapeltown which has a plethora of local amenities and strong transport links in the way of a railway station and bus routes connecting the area with Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley and Leeds. There is also good access to the M1 motorway. EPC GRADE E
