Entering the home onto a ceramic tiled hallway, off which is the bathroom to our right. Also ceramic tiled, this features a stylish vertical radiator/towel rail, a hand basin, lavatory, bath and enclosed shower cubicle with a mains shower running via the combi boiler.

Opposite here there is a small, marble floored room making an ideal office space or a cosy study which is entered through a glass panelled door.

Moving further into the home we find the lounge to our right, featuring fabulous stripped maple flooring. This is found throughout the ground floor and gives the home an almost nautical atmosphere, accentuated by the beautiful wooden staircase, leading up to the landing above… but back to the lounge. This room redefines cosy. Deceptively light, courtesy of the two windows set into the side of the home and the full width patio doors opening onto the veranda and front garden. Beside here, also at the front of this back to front home, we find the kitchen/diner. Here the maple wood floor continues and really does add something to the ambiance of this delightful airy space. There is room for all of the labour saving devices that move this cottage home firmly into the 21st century and still space for a 4 seater dining table and chairs.

Moving back into the hallway it is time to address the elephant in the room. The hall also contains the staircase, although the word staircase scarcely does it justice. This obviously bespoke and I suspect hand built construction is a magnificent tribute to the joiner’s art and a thing of beauty. Positioned directly in the centre line of the home to maximise the available height it reaches up towards the slope of the eaves, inviting you to climb.

Stepping onto the upper landing you are able to move straight into the front bedroom which, although not huge is certainly comfortable with its full length fitted wardrobes and to further utilise all the available space, there are more cupboards in the opposite eaves. The finishing touch in here is the small tiled en-suite with its hand basin and lavatory.

The other side of the landing allows us into the second bedroom. Currently configured as a double room so it obviously does work, this would perhaps make a more luxurious single as floor space is a bit limited. Whatever layout is chosen, this is still a lovely room. Maximum space is again taken advantage of by the use of the eaves as cupboards, supplementing the large free standing wardrobe. The crowning glory of this room however, is the full height set of patio doors giving access out onto the large balcony.

This is overlooking the neat rear garden, laid to decorative gravel and various shrubs which appear to have been selected at least partly for their ability to attract bees. This garden presents itself as a picture of utter serenity and a peaceful haven in which to enjoy the sunshine while the little stripey workers go about their business. The balcony itself stretches the full width of the home and is well able to accommodate furniture, BBQs, pot plants, deck chairs or anything that takes your fancy and affords views to die for looking across towards Loggerheads. As a place to relax and unwind which after all, is what a home should be, this is hard to beat.
