General
General Owned by just three families in its entire history, Normanton House comes to the market offering a very rare opportunity to acquire a substantial Victorian country residence of impressive proportions. The house and outbuildings have undergone much renovation by the previous and current owners, although the late Victorian architecture and interior style have been carefully retained and enhanced. The house boasts some extremely fine principal rooms which lead off the imposing Reception Hall with a galleried mahogany staircase. In addition to the Drawing Room and Dining Room, which are particularly impressive, there is a Family Room and Study en route to the spacious Kitchen from the side hall. This air of generosity is repeated on the first floor where there are six Bedrooms and two Bathrooms off the two landings. The second floor offers three further generous bedrooms and large WC, quite capable of the addition of a shower or bath. Normanton House stands at (truncated)

History
History It is understood that the property was built in 1888 for a prominent local land owner, J B Tidmass, who used Normanton House as his main residence. The house remained in his family passing to his daughter on his death. She married Sir Lambert Ward, a well-known Member of Parliament, who used the property as a summer house and hunting lodge, his main residence being in Cadogan Square, London. More recently the house was passed on to Lady Spearman, the granddaughter of the original owner who sold it to the previous owners in 1974, the first time it had passed out of her family. The current owners purchased the house in 1999.
