One of Bourton's strengths is its excellent position - the spa town of Cheltenham is only a half-hour drive along the A436. Travel south along the A429 and you'll join the A40, with Cheltenham to the west and Oxford 40 minutes to the east. Head northward up the A429 and you'll soon reach the two historic market towns of Stow-onthe- Wold and Moreton-in-Marsh. Go northwest and you'll reach Stratford-upon-Avon, birthplace of William Shakespeare, whilst Cirencester can be reached via southward travel along the A429. Bourton itself is served via a number of bus routes, with regular routes to Cheltenham and other north Cotswold destinations. Kingham station is within a 20 minute drive, and from here the journey to London Paddington takes under 2 hours.

Location - Affectionately referred to as the “Venice of the Cotswolds” owing to the meandering River Windrush running through its centre, Bourton-on-the-Water is one of the most iconic villages in the area. It is situated along the charming Windrush Valley within the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty; however Bourton is far from just a tourist honeypot - it possesses a thriving local community, an extensive range of pubs, shops and amenities and boasts one of the best secondary schools in the United Kingdom (the Cotswold School Academy, named as the best comprehensive in the country by The Sunday Times in 2015-16). Bourton has its own leisure centre, gym, GP surgery, football club, pharmacy, Co-op superstore and many high street shops. The village is served by a very popular primary school, Bourton-on-the-Water Primary Academy, and the outstanding-rated Cotswold School Academy is the secondary school of choice across the North Cotswolds.
