Full description

Having formerly been a chapel, Chapel Cottage is a Grade II Listed home built in the romantic Victorian Gothic Revival style and dating from about 1850. The cottage is in very good condition, having been much improved by the present owners with replumbing, rewiring, rethatching as required, central heating, water filtration and a new soakaway for the septic tank. It is an attractive rural home with great character and a charming sitting room with a woodburner, a fitted timber kitchen and slate floors with underfloor heating or oak flooring on the ground floor. Upstairs on the first floor is a generous double bedroom and a single, whilst clever design has created a very usable loft area accessed by a set of fitted ladder stairs. The classic Gothic arched leaded windows clearly show the building's chapel heritage and it has been a much loved home for this young family. The garden is very private and is divided into two adjoining segments for both sitting and productive elements. A lovely summerhouse is included, various useful sheds and stores and there is parking for two vehicles.

Situation
The little Dartmoor hamlet of Thorn is about 1.5 miles from Chagford's bustling town square and is a quiet charming setting comprising granite cottages most of which are thatched. Thorn is surrounded by beautiful Dartmoor countryside and footpaths and is close to open moorland. Chagford has a wide variety of day to day and specialist shops, a parish church, Roman Catholic church and chapel, primary school, pre school and Montessori. The town has excellent amenities with a post office, library, doctors, dentists and veterinary surgeries, pubs, restaurants and tea rooms. There are good sports facilities with a football and cricket pitch, tennis club, bowling club and an open air swimming pool in season. Riverside, countryside and moorland walks abound. Exeter is approximately 20 miles and the A30 dual carriageway is approximately 5 miles.

Directions
From Fowlers go to the top of the Square and turn right into Mill Street. Bear left where the road splits and drive down into the valley and up the other side.
