The Old Bakehouse is a Victorian terraced four bedroom house overlooking Slapton Ley, with the upper floors enjoying views over the water and the surrounding countryside. The accommodation is arranged over three floors with the Start Bay stores on either side of the ground floor. The property has double glazing and oil fired central heating.

The accommodation on the first floor comprises a sitting room, dining room, kitchen/breakfast room with integrated appliances, a double bedroom, single bedroom and family bathroom with a separate WC. On the top floor are two further bedrooms.

The Old Bakehouse is located on the main square at Torcross, a pretty Devon village located alongside the beach and stunning coastline found in Start Bay. Positioned at the southern end of Slapton Sands, the village sits between the sea and the protected nature reserve of Slapton Ley. Slapton Ley Nature Reserve attracts visitors from all over the world, and is the largest freshwater lake in the south west. Homeowners are able to keep a boat on the beach in Torcross, there are no mooring fees.

Start Bay has fantastic fishing and the village pub ‘The Start Bay Inn’ is famous for its food. The South West Coastal footpath runs along the entire coastline and some of the most attractive beaches are within a few miles from the property, including Bantham. There are excellent schools in Stokenham for a primary school, and Kingsbridge for secondary schooling.

Kingsbridge, approximately 6 miles away, is an historic estuary town with a wide range of excellent everyday facilities, including supermarket, banks, Post Office, shops, restaurants, garages and inns. Salcombe, at the mouth of the Kingsbridge Estuary, is one of the most prestigious coastal resorts and is well known as a yachting centre, popular with both national and international sailors. The town has a good yacht club, some excellent quays and slipways with a number of sandy bays.

The A38 Devon Expressway provides links to the south to Plymouth and Exeter to the north. Exeter provides links to the M5 motorway and London and Bristol. There are regular rail services to London Paddington from Plymouth. Exeter International Airport provides an ever increasing number of domestic and international flights including two flights a day to London City Airport.

To the rear of the property is an attached two storey barn. The ground floor is used for storage by the stores, whilst the upper floor, accessed via a staircase, is utilised as storage for the house. With the relevant planning permissions, the barn could be developed into a holiday let, given the close proximity to the Torcross beach. To the left of the barn is further storage. In a nearby lane there is a separate garage with security doors.

The shops are located either side of The Old Bakehouse and are currently run as a local shop, post office and gift shop. However, these could be changed with the relevant permissions.
