NewHome4U are pleased to bring to the market this modern 2 bedroom bungalow situated on a corner plot on Buckley’s Nant Mawr Road. In fundamentally sound condition it would benefit enormously from a programme of improvements well within the talents of your average DIY enthusiast. It is thus ideal for someone wanting to put their own stamp on perhaps their first home, or for a developer on a budget.

A waist high perimeter wall surrounds the home with the area inside given over to gravel and decorative brick paving. At one end of the plot a flight of steps leads down to a lower level area, offering generous parking space and separated from the road by large wrought iron gates.

The centrally positioned front leads straight into the well proportioned living room, with its 70s style raw brick detailing and chimney breast housing a living flame gas fire. From inside the cottage styling becomes more apparent, shown by the thickness of the walls and accentuated by the leaded lights of the wooden double glazed units. These, although not in perfect order, are not beyond help and nothing that a couple of coats of Ronseal (other products are available) couldn’t cure.

To the right as we enter the living room is the door into the first bedroom. This, like the living room has a front facing window and has a wealth of mainly white fitted bedroom units that once again are pure 1970s but should that not be your era of choice, are easily removed.

At the other end of the living room another door enters the second bedroom. This is far larger than the first and fitted with a more flamboyant version of the white units found there. In one corner is a walk in cupboard, doubling as airing cupboard and mounting for the Worcester gas combi boiler. If I am honest, here the effect is a bit too much and reeks of big hair, even bigger shoulder pads and the little known TV pilot ‘Joan Collins in Buckley’. But before I get too critical, in the 70s we all thought they were great….

The remaining door from the living room puts us in the narrow, galley style kitchen. With its ceramic floor tiles and splash backs it contains everything you would expect but is in all honesty, tired. The once wood laminate cupboard doors are covered in numerous layers of gloss paint which has done little to enhance them and the kindest thing would be to put them out of their misery and pop up to B&Q. Replacement units can be had for surprisingly little money and as I said, there is nothing here beyond the reach of the average DIY enthusiast.

Similarly the bathroom is fully equipped and working but with a bit of work could be made so much more enticing. Again, as a project it is just what you need.

There is another door at the far end of the kitchen giving access to the paved space overlooking the car parking area. Actually that does not do it justice, making it sound like an NCP. In fact it is a very pleasant and sheltered spot to sit and offers some far reaching views to be enjoyed as you recover from the efforts of all the DIY you have taken on. But when it is finished? It will be whatever you choose to make it.
