As we stood outside Albert & Francis, waiting for our morning coffee, we were struck by how much Francis Road has changed in the couple of years we have been open, and how much it is going to change in the coming months and years with the recently started pedestrianisation. But what struck us most forcefully as we wandered up the street, latte in hand, was that whilst the street scene may change, the community who live and work here will still be some of the friendliest and most approachable people you are ever likely to meet. And really, that’s what’s most important when you are looking for somewhere to live, isn’t it? You only have to sign up to the Francis Road Community on Facebook to see what we mean. It may sound a bit trite, but it’s just a really nice place to be, whether that’s because you work here or (even more fortunately) live here. What could be better than sitting in the garden at Yardarm on a summer’s evening, chatting with friends over a glass of something cold and refreshing, unless of course it’s sitting in the garden at The Northcote, tucking into one of their amazing pizzas. (A pub with a pizzeria in the garden – how cool is that!) If that sounds too strenuous, relax with a book and a coffee at Phlox Books (Aimee is always on hand to recommend something you will like), or perhaps take a yoga class with Louise when her studio opens in a couple of months’ time.
