Full description

Tenure: Freehold

This one bedroom detached former croft cottage enjoys idyllic location in Garenin, a residential/crofting community on the western coast of Isle of Lewis with views over the Atlantic coast to the west and towards the rolling countryside to the east.

The property was built around 85 years ago but, in more recent years, the current owners have undertaken extensive refurbishment and rebuild to the property. The current accommodation comprises lounge, dining/conservatory, bedroom, kitchen and bathroom, and whilst some minor works are required for the cottage to be fully compliant for building control completion approval, the cost of outstanding works is outweighed by the potential value gain on effective completion of works.

Please note that the essential outstanding works make this property unsuitable for conventional mortgage lending and is suitable for CASH PURCHASE ONLY

The Isle of Lewis continues to enjoy strong tourist demand as well as from those looking to relocate for a slower pace of life. This property is a hugely exciting prospect as a holiday rental or holiday home as well as being ideal as a new home for owner occupiers and, as such, strong levels of demand are anticipated. Early expression of interest is recommended as this one will not be around for long.

Area

Garenin is a crofting township found on the west coast of the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland. Garenin is in the Carloway municipality and has a population of about 80 people. Garenin is also within the parish of Uig. Today the village is most famous for the "blackhouse village", which consists of nine restored traditional thatched cottages. The village is found at the end of the Garenin road beside the village bay. These houses were lived in till 1974 and were the last group of blackhouses to be inhabited in the Western Isles.
