Abbotsbury is an historic village known for its sub-tropical gardens and swannery. The village itself has a selection of shops including a general store/post office, butcher, two public houses and several pretty tea rooms. It is surrounded by beautiful countryside, with footpaths and bridleways providing access to the Abbotsbury Plains to the north, and St Catherine's Chapel and world-famous Chesil Beach to the south, part of the World Heritage Coastline.
The fishing port of Bridport/West Bay, the resort town of Weymouth and the county town of Dorchester are all roughly equidistant of the village and provide a range of shopping, educational, and recreational facilities, as well mainline railway services from Dorchester and Weymouth. In the neighbouring village of Portesham, just two miles distant, is a primary school and doctors surgery.
From Dorchester, proceed west on the A35 towards Bridport. Follow this road until you enter Winterbourne Abbas. Turn left opposite the garage onto the B3159. Take the first right onto Coombe Road. Follow this road until you reach Portesham. Continue through the village until you reach the T-junction, and turn right onto Goose Hill. Continue on this road until you reach Abbotsbury. Turn right into Rosemary Lane and then take the first left; the gravel parking area for the property is located on the left hand side.
