Now that Summer has at last returned, what could be better than taking a short stroll from your home and sitting in Stoneydown Park with an ice cream to watch the world go by? Well, as good as that sounds as we sit here melting in our office, there are actually lots of things to do within easy walking distance of this lovely terraced house. Wander down Forest Road and see how many of Time Out’s “14 brilliant things to do on Blackhorse Lane” you can do in one day (clue – you are bound to run out of time). If sport is your thing, cut down Edward Road and you could have a game of five a side with your mates at Douglas Eyre Sports Centre. Or wander past there and onto Walthamstow Marshes, which are beautiful at this time of year, and a real oasis of wildlife amidst the hustle and bustle of East London. If all that sounds too energetic, nip over to Walthamstow High Street and into The Chequers for a spot of lunch (the Sunday roasts are brilliant!), or head in the other direction and take in the artistic wonders of the William Morris Gallery at Lloyd Park. Then again, that ice cream still sounds rather good…

Living Here... - They say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Well, on that basis, we are pretty confident every beholder will agree that this Victorian terraced house is achingly beautiful. Just wander inside and you can’t fail to fall in love with this wonderful home. The stripped wood flooring in the hallway leads you seamlessly into the cosy lounge, where the walls are dappled with sunlight flooding in through the shuttered bay window. However, the real heart of this home is the simply stunning kitchen diner to the rear. Here the owners have extended in order to create a truly wonderful space, perfect whether it’s a quiet evening in with the family or a night entertaining friends. The large bi-fold doors to the rear ensure that in the summer months the space flows effortlessly into the rear garden beyond, making it a room for all seasons. On the first floor there are two cool and elegantly decorated bedrooms and modern family bathroom, whilst ascending to the top floor reveals the wonderful master bedroom, complete with en suite shower room and juliet balcony. All in all, this is a house we have fallen hopelessly in love with, and we are pretty certain you will too…

In This Area - By Walthamstow Diary - Blackhorse Road station sits at the junction of Blackhorse Road and Blackhorse Lane. The name is actually a mispronunciation of Black House, a grand old house that once stood near St James Street. Blackhorse Road runs through the heart land of the old Warner estate. If the road was an artery, then its veins are the quiet tree lined streets of red brick half house flats that lead off of many of it’s junctions. Have a wander down Edward Road and marvel at number 108. This beautiful tiled building is now flats, but was once part of Truman's brewery, it is simply glorious. Stoneydown Park is not only a great park with a kids’ playground, it is also home to a music festival. Every summer the Stoneydown Park festival fills the air with good music from local musicians, and fills our bellies with great food and nice cold beer. It’s completely free and personally speaking, one of my favourite events of the year. Just behind the park is Bonners fish bar, which according to some, is the best chip shop in Walthamstow. Quiet streets, good transport links, free music, and the best chippy, and fantastic schools to included the Ofsted 'Outstanding' Hillyfield Primary School. what more could you want.
