Finding the perfect house is all about balance, don’t you think? You want a house from where your daily commute is as painless as possible, but at the same time you want a home in an area where you kids can enjoy growing up. Difficult, isn’t it? Well, we think the area around Longacre Road might just be the solution to the dilemma. For the commute, turn right onto Hale End Road and then stroll down Beech Hall Road to Highams Park station, where the trains run every 15 minutes into Liverpool Street. Or drive up to the Waterworks roundabout and you can be on the M11 or A406 in a flash. But more importantly, this is a great area for your family to grow up in. There’s a recently expanded primary school just over the road, and Epping Forest literally at the top of the street, meaning plenty of muddy excursions with the children on their bikes, or exercise for you when the family dog takes you for a walk. Wood Street and Highams Park are equidistant from the house, ensuring plenty of places to go for a bite to eat or a drink - check out La Boite in Highams Park (where you can eat in the old signal box as the trains go by!) or maybe Marilucia in Wood Street for a pizza or two. This is a great spot to live in – just ask the current owners!

Guide Price: £515,000 - £525,000.

Living Here... - We remember when the vendors bought this house. We were working for another company at the time (shush – we won’t tell if you don’t!), and back then we thought they had made a great choice. Having seen what they have done to the property in the intervening period, we are now doubly sure it was the right choice, because they have turned this into an absolutely fantastic family home. Both the reception rooms are beautifully presented and filled with light, which bounces and reflects off the stripped floorboards, whilst the kitchen is dual aspect, meaning it too is light and bright. There’s even a downstairs WC, ensuring the queue for the bathroom in the morning isn’t a long one. Upstairs the presentation is equally impressive, with three tastefully decorated bedrooms and a metro tiled family bathroom, whilst the loft would allow further bedroom space to be added if required (subject to the usual consents and permissions of course). The property is rounded off by the delightful rear garden, which has the added benefit of side access – ideal when the kids come back on their bikes, muddy from the forest! All in all, this is a great family home. The only question surely is, is it your next family home…?

In This Area - By Walthamstow Diary - Picture the scene; you are sat in a café, melting in to the best hot chocolate you have ever had, watching Morris Dancers whack each other with sticks, whilst a man dressed as a giant ram chases after a group of kids. Wood Street is the kind of place where this sort of stuff happens all the time. As well as events and family fun days, you will also find a load of street art courtesy of Wood Street Walls. Visit Wood Street Indoor Market and roam its narrow corridors which are packed with antiques, vintage, and all sorts of curiosities. Why not visit Homies on Donkeys taqueria, browse through racks of vintage dresses at Gigi's Dressing Room or perhaps indulge in a City Spa Day at Y.Wait Beauty Salon. If you get hungry, The Duke pub is good for beer and burgers, whilst the Flower Pot is a more traditional pub and is fully equipped with pool tables and dart boards…not to mention Teras Turkish Barbecue Restaurant or The Brothers Fish Bar, which are also popular local haunts. Hollow Ponds boating lake and Epping Forest are just a short walk up Wood Street – both are excellent places to exercise, relax and unwind.
