Normally when a property with a garden comes to the market, we wax lyrical about alfresco dining, and relaxing after work with a glass of something cold and refreshing whilst reclining in a deckchair. Of course, all those things apply to this lovely ground floor Abrahams flat (frankly who wouldn’t want to sit in its beautiful garden). However, we can’t help thinking this would be a fantastic home to hunker down in when the nights draw in. The richness of the stripped wood flooring adds a feeling of real warmth as soon as you wander through the front door, as does the vibrant colour palette throughout. It just feels that as the days shorten, this would be a wonderful home to hide out in as the weather does its worst outside. To the front of the property is the lounge, filled with light thanks to the bay window. Directly behind is the main bedroom, with views to the rear garden. Further along the hallway you come to the hub of any home, the kitchen, which offers plenty of space in which to entertain, and also offers access to the garden. To the rear of the flat are located the second bedroom and the modern family bathroom, plus of course the afore mentioned garden. As the clocks go back, what better place to be than here, in this fantastic flat…
Living Here... - We were sitting In Yardarm the other evening, chatting to Dan about how things were progressing with Kettle & Ryan next door, when it suddenly hit us – we want to live here as well! Frankly, who wouldn’t? On a Saturday night we could have pre-dinner drinks at Yardarm and then dinner at either Kettle & Ryan or Marmelo, before finishing off the evening at either the Northcote (they do amaxing pizzas as well) or the Heathcote & Star (table tennis anyone?) Or maybe we could have Vietnamese street food the next time it “pops up” at Edie Rose (flowers and food – what a great combo). And if the night before leads to a sore head the morning after, well there are loads of places to pick up a caffeine hangover cure, from Phlox Books and Albert & Francis, to Perky Blenders and Yardarm. Yep, we definitely need to move to E10…
In This Area - By Walthamstow Diary - Leyton is home to the only shop that can be seen from space. OK, that's not entirely true, but the carnival shop on the high road is definitely bright. There's no way you'll miss this multi coloured wonder, it looks like it's made of Lego. The shop sits opposite Coronation Gardens, a beautiful park with a little maze, pond and fountain. Walk all the way through Coronation Gardens and you'll find Leyton Beach. Yep, that's right, Leyton Beach, former training ground for beach volleyball teams during the 2012 Olympics. The High Road is also home to the Leyton Technical, a lovely pub that occupies the ground floor of the old town hall. It has good beer, good food, and the longest walk to the toilet you'll ever find. If you like beer, Leyton is the place for you, as both Brodie's Beers and Signature Brew are based in E10. Sidmouth Park, just behind the carnival shop, is a hit with kids as there's loads of stuff to play on. If you are hungry or thirsty, wander to Francis Road and you'll find a bucket load of nice cafes, including Yardarm, Marmelo Kitchen, and Albert & Francis, as well as an increasingly interesting range of shops and businesses, from books to yoga, and flowers to gifts.
